The City of Fort Myers Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) is seeking a dynamic and creative professional to join the team as a Marketing Communications Specialist This role is designed for individuals passionate about urban development and skilled in digital communications, offering an opportunity to contribute to the CRA’s growth and community engagement through effective marketing and communications strategies.
Working closely with the Deputy Director, the Marketing Communications Specialist will play a crucial role in implementing the CRA’s communications, marketing, and public relations initiatives, focusing on email marketing, multimedia production, graphic design, and social media content management. The successful candidate will have the chance to help shape the narrative of Fort Myers’ redevelopment agency and directly impact the community’s perception and engagement with the CRA’s projects and objectives.
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Responsibilities and Reporting During an Emergency Situation:
Essential Employees may be required to work during a declared emergency. Depending on the nature of the emergency, this may require working around the clock for several days on short notice.
Non-Essential Employees will not be required to work during a declared emergency. The employee’s Department Head will determine when the employee will be required to work.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Proficient in email marketing platforms, social media management tools, and analytics software.
  • Strong skills in multimedia production, including proficiency in video and audio editing software.
  • Excellent graphic design skills, with proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Descript or similar design software.
  • Ability to write clear, persuasive, and engaging content for various audiences.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within a team and with external partners.
  • Knowledge of urban redevelopment, community engagement, and public relations principles is desirable.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design, Multimedia, or a related field.
  • Six (6) years of experience in marketing, communications, or a related field, with a focus on digital media, content creation, and graphic design.
  • A valid Florida Driver’s License is required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in public sector, urban development, or a related field is a plus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • May be required to work hours other than the regular schedule including nights, weekends, holidays and during emergencies.
  • Contact with internal and external customers and the general public.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development and execution of email marketing campaigns, including content creation, distribution, and analytics.
  • Produce multimedia content, including audio and video production, scriptwriting, and editing, to support CRA’s communication strategy.
  • Design engaging print and digital graphics to complement marketing and communication efforts across various platforms.
  • Develop and manage content for social media channels, ensuring consistent messaging and engagement with the community, stakeholders, and media.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external agencies to ensure cohesive branding and communication across all channels.
  • Monitor and report on the effectiveness of marketing and communication campaigns, making recommendations for improvement.
  • This position requires regular and reliable attendance and the employee’s physical presence at the workplace.
  • Other duties as assigned.
