Civic Media has built a state-wide radio and digital media network in Wisconsin with the goal of championing the practice of democracy by empowering honest and informative local voices. We’re merging the legacy of radio with the immediacy of digital to deliver high-quality content to a growing audience via our 20 radio stations, websites, mobile app and associated social media platforms. POSITION OVERVIEW:

We’re looking for a Marketing Coordinator to support our legacy stations in the Southeast region of Wisconsin for 540 WAUK and WRJN in Racine. The ideal candidate understands the full stack of marketing duties and possesses some practical knowledge of how to run campaigns and promotions from start to finish, organize events, support content creation efforts, engage local audiences on social media and support the sales team with lead generation. Applicants must also understand the role of marketing in developing meaningful relationships with an audience and be able to articulate the value a brand can play in people’s lives. QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associates Degree in Business, Marketing, or related field, Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • A strong understanding of marketing fundamentals, branding, positioning, strategy and distribution channels
  • Fast learner with the ability to research and develop their skill set as it applies to the duties of this role
  • Proficient in basic graphic design and video editing
  • Highly motivated self-starter with a track record of working well with a team
  • A passion for culture, communications and local media
  • Must live in greater Milwaukee metro area

Responsibilities:

The marketing coordinator’s role is fluid and will be contributing to the marketing team’s efforts to support the network’s local stations in the following key areas:

  • On-site Events and Promotions: Work with the market managers and local station staff to coordinate attendance to a variety of events and promotions, including ticket giveaways, county fairs, farmers markets, street fairs, and any other community events where we will be able to connect with our audience in person and collect both qualitative and quantitative market data from those interactions to fuel insights for future campaigns. Help manage and maintain the events calendar for the region.
  • Marketing Campaigns: Work with the network’s marketing team and the stations’ market managers to develop, deploy and track promotional campaigns in a variety of inter-related channels, including radio, web, mobile, social media and email. This aspect requires a strong understanding of or willingness to learn analytics and reporting to measure campaign performance, as well as an understanding of what the local audiences in the region value.
  • Social Media: Work with the network’s marketing team, the stations’ local teams and the regional news team to promote the content being created on social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, X and Reddit. These duties will include assisting radio station personalities with maintaining their social media presence, as well as nurturing relationships with local followers. A consistent stream of on-brand posts will be expected.
  • Content: Assist the network’s marketing team with the creation of digital content, including light updates to the stations’ websites as needed, shooting mobile photos and video for use in social media campaigns, documenting attendance to local events and behind-the-scenes glimpses at how the stations operate, etc.
  • Sales Support: Work with the network’s marketing and sales teams to develop materials to assist the local account executives to find and nurture leads.
  • Miscellaneous: Contribute to other local station tasks that may arise as needed.
