JOB SUMMARY

The Marketing Specialist is responsible for creating, writing, and distributing select internal and external communications for Catholic Charities. This position also supports administrative and program departments by ensuring that marketing brochures and other materials are created, information is gathered and written for news releases and websites, and standards are maintained for all publications for Catholic Charities. The marketing specialist works with the marketing and public relations manager to implement a comprehensive communications plan and goals for Catholic Charities.

Responsibilities:

DESCRIPTION OF JOB DUTIES:

  • Develop, write, desktop publics, prepare specialized presentations, and create graphic designs for Catholic Charities Materials – 30%
  • *Research and write copy for all formats, including program and organizational brochures, website, social media, newsletters, and news releases as assigned
  • *Manage the publication process for all assigned publications for the organization from inception, idea development, writing, designing, and printing including all regular internal and external communications
  • *Coordinate media interest in the organization and ensure regular contact with target media and appropriate response to media requests
  • *Coordinate design and production of publications, using desktop publishing software
  • *Assist Marketing and Public Relations Manager in developing brand standards, including logo usage and naming conventions
  • Obtain or coordinate procurement of photographs or artwork as necessary
  • *Coordinate design and production of employee newsletter (monthly); Directory of Services (annual update and as appropriate for major changes); Voice of Hope donor e-newsletter (monthly); Today’s Deeds donor mailing (quarterly); Annual ReportCollaborate with marketing, creative, and advertising agencies as appropriate


    • *Manage social media marketing campaigns and day-to-day activities – 20%

    • Post information about Catholic Charities on select social media
    • Responsible for researching trends to determine which social media channels and which campaigns within those structures will produce the best results for the organization.
    • Coordinate with program service and department staff across the organization to implement social media strategic communications.
    • Monitor social media accounts and provide analytical feedback.
    • Responsible for reputation management of Catholic Charities on all social media platforms, including engaging in dialogues and answering questions.
    • Story collection and development – 30%
    • Work with programs to collect and write program and client stories and work with OA team to distribute across the agency and community through multiple media channels.
    • Work with videographer for special events on program stories.
    • Special Events – 10%
    • Manage and oversee all aspects of the Mardi Gras Silent Auction.
    • Assist with other events as needed.
    • Maintain, organize, and manage marketing files, client releases and materials – 5%
    • Organize central photograph files and release forms.
    • Obtain photographs and manage release forms.
    • Mange Stock Photo collection and portfolio.
    • Enact safeguards to preserve Catholic Charities’ copyrights.
    • Ensure Catholic Charities does not violate the copyright of others.
    • Education of appropriate staff regarding copyright laws.
    • Email Marketing / Communications – 5%
    • Research and advise on email vendors and oversee list.
    • Design email marketing layout and oversee email marketing distribution and timeline.
      Other Duties as assigned.
