We are seeking a highly strategic Marketing Director to lead the London based marketing strategy team for EMEA (excluding Paris), helping to define, and being responsible for implementing, the key strategic priorities for the brand.

We are seeking a highly strategic Marketing Director to lead the London based marketing strategy team for EMEA (excluding Paris), helping to define, and being responsible for implementing, the key strategic priorities for the brand.
The role is critical to driving Christie’s brand equity and increasing market share across the EMEA region. The candidate will lead the Marketing Strategy team and develop multi-channel marketing strategies to support business objectives and house pillars. The successful candidate for this role must have a deep understanding of marketing across the luxury sector and a commercial and strategic mindset. They will be experienced in brand identity and development and have a career which includes highly successful data-driven marketing campaigns across all consumer touchpoints. The role requires experience of creating and delivering pitches for new business with excellent and persuasive presentation and communications skills. Developing and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders throughout the business will be critical to the success of this role along with excellent marketing skills and tactics to secure high-value consignments. The chosen candidate will have Director level expertise in insightful competitor analysis, as well as developed media knowledge and a deep understanding of the digital transformation on an ever increasingly fragmented consumer journey. This role is crucial for developing strategies to reach a global HN audience as well as engaging our current demographic. The role reports into the Head of Marketing for EMEA and will work closely with the Marketing Directors in other regions. The candidate also must have a passion for the arts and luxury goods and a deep commitment to upholding Christie’s reputation for excellence .

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Enhance Christie’s brand positioning as the market leader in the art and luxury market
  • Manage and develop a team of high-performing marketeers and co-ordinators across the EMEA region, fostering a culture of energy, passion, creativity and excellence alongside a spirit of accountability and collaboration
  • Lead the team in adapting to key business demands from business-getting and proposals through to final sales
  • Bring best practices to the role from luxury sectors to the key consumer channels of marketing in the art world - encompassing CRM, media and campaign development, through to digital marketing and emails, promotions, events and collaborations to enrich the current marketing strategy
  • Develop and implement comprehensive marketing strategies aligned with business goals, tailored to individual sales
  • Work closely with the client services and digital teams to create personalised marketing initiatives that enhance the client experience and user journey
  • Develop a deep understanding of the competitive landscape to identify Christie’s unique brand positioning in the art market. Track industry trends and bring market analysis and customer insights to the business and Head of Marketing to help drive effective strategies and inform strategic adjustments
  • Bring consumer digital innovation to the brand and stay ahead of digital trends and emerging technologies to maintain the competitive edge.
  • Define and implement key campaign performance indicators to ensure marketing strategies and tactics drive the specific business outcome. Communicate and present consistent proposals to the department and business for all major sales
  • Post all key sales, monitor and analyse campaign performance across all channels to optimise strategies ROI
  • Collaborate with business critical departments from client services to the digital teams to measure the effectiveness of marketing campaign and initiatives
  • Produce regular reporting which show campaigns delivering on KPIs
  • Oversee the marketing budget for the EMEA region including catalogues. Create an agile budget roadmap which protects the brand identity and helps to bolster all key sales with a strong ROI
  • Develop and nurture close working relationships with key stakeholders, business leaders and specialists in all departments with the ability to influence stakeholders at managerial level. Foster excellent relationships with key Regional Managing Directors and ensure high visibility in the company to ensure trust and close working relationships across the business and the region
  • Work closely and collaboratively with the Content and Creative team to ensure the marketing campaigns are delivered on time, with efficiencies, in budget, streamlined and are individually creative.
  • Work closely and collaboratively with the Creative team and key departments to oversee and ensure the successful implementation and/or execution of exhibitions, campaign assets, digital windows, all media, emails, in relation to all marketing tactics agreed with the Head of Marketing for EMEA.

  • Outstanding stakeholder management capabilities
  • Skilled in designing targeted campaigns that resonate with a HNI audience
  • Industry connections: A network within the art, culture, luxury industries enabling effective partnerships and collaborations from media through to marketing
  • Cultural Awareness – knowledge of art history and trends in the art and luxury market
  • Client-Centric Knowledge – awareness and expertise in developing campaigns and strategies that attract new clients whilst engaging our current Christie’s clients
  • Public Relations knowledge – evidence of a working relationship or management of PR campaigns in order to produce 360 marketing strategies
  • Digital Marketing Proficiency – experience in integrating digital channels and platforms with events/exhibitions and or auctions
  • E-commerce experience – understanding of marketing e-commerce crucial for growing on-line sale channels
  • SEO/SEM knowledge – knowledge of optimizing digital content in relation to current and new clients
  • Creative and Innovative thinking – skilled in crafting compelling narratives around audiences and key sales periods
  • Proven Presentation skills – outstanding communication skills which achieve buy in from stakeholders and clients
  • Financial Acumen – proven ability to deliver revenue growth marketing budgets which maximise ROI
