JOB SUMMARY
The Master Data Analyst is responsible for driving business value through technology and business process improvements by maintaining the accuracy of the Engineering Master Data. The position identifies, delivers, and supports business processes as well as technological development for Engineering.
REQUIREMENTS
Experience
- Between 1 to 3 years of experience in the geospatial industry
Education/Certification/Designation
- Bachelor’s Degree in Geography, Civil Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with geospatial emphasis

Technical Skills/Knowledge
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.)
- Knowledge of cartographic concepts and standards
- Knowledge of AutoCAD Map 3D and GIS topologies
- Knowledge of plans and drawings
- Knowledge of Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI), ArcGIS Desktop, ArcMap Spatial Analyst, 3D Analyst, Network Analyst extensions, high precision Global Positioning System (GPS) technologies and post-processing, as well as Commercial Relational Database Management System (RDBMSs) such as Oracle*
- Knowledge of Railroad operations*
- Knowledge of SAP and CN Systems*

Responsibilities:
Data Updates and Reporting
- Update CN Enterprise Plant Inventory, Systems, Applications and Products (SAP), Geographic Information System (GIS) database, and Enterprise Geographic Information System (EGIS) to reflect changes to assets for CN’s track network
- Collate and analyze complex data from multiple sources to develop actionable insights
- Integrate spatial and non-spatial data formats as well as apply quality control procedures to meet the rigorous accuracy and network topology standards required for safe and efficient rail operation
- Track, update, and report on the progress of each asset change in workflow management system to comply with CN policies, standards, and strategies
- Perform basic spatial and non-spatial data queries as well as generate reports for various departments including Engineering, Accounting, and Transportation
- Assist with the development of long-term strategies for maintenance of GIS data pertaining to Engineering and Corporate geospatial applications
- Participate in the development of reports in collaboration with Information and Technology (I&T) and Systems Development teams
- Collaborate with various project teams and stakeholders on Engineering activities
Support to Field Employees
- Develop expertise and provide coaching on Engineering systems
- Assist Field team members including Track Supervisors and Senior Managers with report interpretation and oversight on accurate as well as timely reporting
- Support Field team members in resolving Engineering systems related issues
Communication and Coordination
- Coordinate data package generation for different projects and technologies such as Positive Train Control (PTC) and Autonomous Track Inspection Program (ATIP)
- Communicate between different engineering disciplines and business teams to acquire spatial data, promote GIS initiatives, and coordinate updates
- Cooperate and communicate with peers, field personnel, and various departments
- Focus on communication and foster collaboration by regularly providing updates to teams concerning ongoing initiatives as well as encouraging teams to work together to accomplish common goals and learning
Working Condition
The role has standard working conditions in an office environment with a regular workweek from Monday to Friday. The position requires being available on-call to respond to critical incidences in the evenings and weekends on a rotational basis, including moderate overtime. Due to the nature of the role, the incumbent must be able to meet tight deadlines, handle pressure, and stress. The position requires minimal travel (10%).
