Description:

The Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft (www.fraunhofer.com) currently operates 76 institutes and research units throughout Germany and is a leading applied research organization. Around 32 000 employees work with an annual research budget of 3.4 billion euros.
As one of 76 institutes and research facilities of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, the leading organization for applied research in Europe, we show how to not only master crises, but grow from them. Pushing boundaries. Always trying something new. Not just thinking, but thinking ahead. We turn research into the future.
We want an earth that is worth living on. With our applied research on Circular Economy, Carbon Management, Green Hydrogen and Local Energy Systems, we make concrete contributions to achieving the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Our employees conduct research in the areas of energy, environment, safety, health, communication and mobility.
The Chemical Energy Storage department is working on tasks relating to catalyst development. Cobalt-carbon catalysts have already been synthesized for thermocatalytic ammonia decomposition and tested in an indirectly (conventionally) heated reactor. As part of a master’s thesis, these catalysts are now also to be tested in a catalyst plate directly heated by an ohmic resistance of the catalysts and the performance is to be compared with that in a conventional reactor.
