Description:

We are looking for a Student (m/f/d) to work on a Master Thesis in our Applied Catalyst Technology (ACT) Modelling team based in Munich. Here, you will be active in a funded cooperative R&D project together with Modelling and R&D experts in Clariant to prepare and use an experimental setup for the validation of a high-fidelity kinetic model for our catalyst production processes.
By utilising process analytical technologies and the latest understanding of process modelling, you will contribute to take the manufacturing processes of Clariant’s world-class performance catalysts to the next level and make an important impact to reduce emissions and waste in catalyst manufacturing.
REQUIREMENTS
- You have Bachelor’s degree in one of the following disciplines: Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Energy / Process Engineering, or a related field
- You have initial experience in using simulation environments such as gPROMS, Aspen Plus, Matlab or Python
- You have a good understanding of solids processing and modelling approaches in Chemical Engineering and Thermal Process Engineering
- You are proficient in spoken and written English, basic knowledge in German is desirable
- You demonstrate a strong sense of initiative and ownership, taking charge of tasks whilst also collaborating effectively within a team environment
Responsibilities:
- Plan and conduct experiments to calibrate an existing model for catalyst production in a rotary calciner to real-world data
- Setup online analytical methods for continuous operation and develop data evaluation strategies
- Collaborate with other Clariant engineers to connect the model to CFD-simulations for the development of a digital twin
- Utilise the developed model and expeirmental setup to predict product quality
