Responsibilities:

As a Materials Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Undertaking failure analysis, metallurgical assessment and materials testing for static and rotating equipment in the Pipeline, Process and Power industries
  • Undertaking metallurgical assessment and materials testing to support fitness-for-service assessments
  • Undertaking metallurgical assessment and materials testing to support internal development initiatives
  • Performing basic fitness-for-service and remaining life assessments in accordance with industry standards
  • Participating in occasional field and inspection support at industrial facilitie

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have a Bachelor’s degree in materials or mechanical/ materials engineering or related field of study
  • Have a major in metallurgy (or equivalent) and/or corrosion science
  • Have a good base knowledge of metallic materials commonly used in industrial equipment, including general material properties, microstructures and common damage mechanisms
  • Have good oral and written communication skills
  • Be a team player and display good communication skills, able to work solo
  • Have relevant work experience in materials engineering and/or engineering consultancy, up to 5 years
  • Have an evidence-based approach to problem solving and ability to be methodical in pursuing a solution
  • Have experience working in a metallurgical laboratory environment, including preparation of metallographic samples and metallurgical microscopy
  • Have experience working with plant in the process, pipeline and power generation industries
  • Have ability to travel domestically and internationally for occasionally field work at client facilities and for business development activitie
