As a Material Handler in our prefabricated mass timber manufacturing facility, you will be in a hands-on role supporting our team in providing logistical support to ensure timely and seamless movement and management of materials throughout the production process.
Your responsibilities will be crucial to the management of the movement, storage, and protection of raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished products. You will work in tight spaces and handle large items, including windows, CLT (Cross-Laminated Timber), and LVL (Laminated Veneer Lumber) beams. Your commitment to safety and accuracy in every movement, combined with your ability to adapt to changing priorities, calm demeanour and ability to work both independently and collaboratively, are crucial in our fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Reports to the Warehouse & Logisitcs Supervisor.

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS, REQUIRED:

  • Highschool graduation is an asset
  • Class I forklift license

Nice to Haves, but can be certified on the job:

  • Telehandler
  • Rigging Ticket
  • Level 1 or 2 Occupational First Aid certification

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE, REQUIRED:

  • 5+ years of experience in warehouse/ distribution center material handling, preferably within a manufacturing environment
  • Experienced forklift operator, particularly with the movement of large and heavy materials in limited space and varying environmental conditions
  • Materials management experience
  • Technical knowledge and ability to read blueprints, drawings etc.
  • Ability to use hand & power tools.
  • Knowledge of safe lifting and handling techniques.
  • Willingness to practice safe work habits and report unsafe conditions.
  • Able to follow instructions and complete work tasks on schedule with clear timelines.
  • Experience in labelling, packaging, and proficiency in quality control checks.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully both internally and externally.

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must wear protective equipment, such as a hard hat, hearing protection, safety work boots, and safety glasses.
  • Work safely and follow all health and safety policies and procedures.
    We expect the hourly pay within the range for this position will vary within the range of $26 - $28 per hour.
    Subject to change, as your pay will be based on market evaluation and various job-related factors, including your past work experience, relevant education and certifications etc.. Benefits offered after 3 months.

Responsibilities:

  • Inspect materials for defects, damage, or discrepancies and report any issues to supervisors or quality control teams.
  • Using provided picking lists, prepare, pick, and deliver the required materials to production & kitting workstations.
  • Keep track of inventory levels and report any shortages or discrepancies.
  • Maintain accurate records of material transactions, including receipts, issues, and transfers, and report them to a direct supervisor.
  • Safely store materials in designated locations, ensuring proper labelling, organization, and compliance with safety regulations.
  • Organize the warehouse and yard storage to ensure effective use of space and efficiency of storage and retrieval of products.
  • Organize tool crib and small parts storage areas to maintain the accuracy of inventory.
  • Operate equipment (forklifts, telehandlers, overhead Gantry cranes, pallet jacks, or other material handling equipment) to move large and heavy materials within the facility, as well as finished products from the facility to the storage yard awaiting shipment to the customer.
  • Perform routine inspection and maintenance checks on material handling equipment and report any malfunctions or maintenance needs.
  • Safely load materials onto trucks, ensuring they are secured in the correct sequence.
  • Use industrial shrink wrap to secure materials and prepare them for transport.
  • Prepare materials for shipment, including packing, palletizing, and labelling items according to shipping requirements.
  • Read and interpret measurements in both metric and imperial units.
  • Use hand and power tools for tasks like cutting and drilling.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of warehouse and immediate work area.
  • Communicate with other manufacturing team members to ensure production goals and quality standards are met.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including identifying opportunities to streamline processes, improve quality, and reduce waste.
  • Contribute to team efforts.
  • Comply with all health and safety rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Comply with our administrative policies and procedures as set forth from time to time.
  • Complete other duties as we may request that are consistent with your abilities and responsibilities.
