The Nursing and Midwifery Services at the Proserpine Hospital is seeking applications for a Midwifery Unit Manager to join their team on a permanent basis.

Your opportunity
To provide midwifery leadership in proactively managing and coordinating clinical practice and the provision of human, financial and material resources in accordance with organisational goals, ensuring a cost-effective midwifery service focused on providing exceptional, evidence-based women centred care within the maternity service.
About the Team
The Whitsunday Region is one the fastest-growing areas in the Mackay HHS. The region is serviced by two hospitals (Bowen and Proserpine), two Community Health Centres (Bowen and Cannonvale), and one Multipurpose Health Service (MPHS) at Collinsville. The Whitsunday Region makes up the northern end of the Mackay HHS.
The Whitsunday Region has an estimated resident population (ESP) of 35,050 (Whitsunday Region Community Profile, Whitsunday Regional Council, March 2020). The Whitsunday Regional Council predicts the annual growth rate to be 2.3 percent over the next 20 years. There has also been a significant increase in obesity in recent years with its associated effect on health and lifestyle.
Whitsunday Health Service is an integrated service comprising Proserpine Hospital and Cannonvale Community Health. The Community Health Campus offers a range of community health services provided by a multi-disciplinary team. The Whitsunday Heath Service covers north to Hideaway Bay, East to the Whitsunday islands, south to Midge Point, and the communities of Airlie Beach, and Proserpine. Proserpine Hospital is the only rural birthing unit within the Mackay HHS and functions at a level 3 CSCF with Senior Medical Officers’ who have advanced skills in Obstetrics/anaesthetics and provide cover for a theatre service.
