Description:
The post holder has 24-hour accountability for their portfolio of Theatres within the Board. They must ensure appropriate systems and processes are in place to ensure the continuity of safe and effective care at all times. Deputises for Operational Management as required / appropriate as part of the Board Team The core responsibilities of Matron are: Leadership of Theatre Teams Ensure the provision of safe and effective patient care Effectively manage the Nursing/OPD/HCA/Theatre Orderly resource within your Theatre portfolio Delivery of Trust and Clinical Board objectives as part of the Board Management Team Accountability for ensuring the highest standards of clinical care is provided in Theatres Responsibility for infection control and cleanliness Development of nurses, ODPs and support staff Operational Management of Theatres and Theatre staff Essential criteria include: Experience in Operating Theatres Registered Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner Qualification in a perioperative speciality or an equivalent level of experience Masters Degree or willing to undertake Masters Degree within an agreed timescale Leadership and communication skills Please note it is a requirement of The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust that all successful candidates who require a DBS for the post they have been offered pay for their DBS certificate.The method of payment is a salary deduction from your first months pay.
