Description:
THE POSITION
Michael Best Strategies is seeking a driven and motivated HR Generalist in our Milwaukee or Madison office. This role will work as a member of the Best Workplace Solutions department with clients to provide support in the areas of FMLA, ADA, performance management, policies, investigations, employee training, and assuring organizational compliance requirements in accordance with clients’ policies, procedures, and all state and federal laws.

KNOWLEDGE BASE & EDUCATION:
- 5+ years of professional, successful experience working in Human Resources.
- Experience with handling FMLA and ADA claims is required.
- Experience with conducting investigations is required.
- Experience with reviewing and revising employment policies is required.
- Positive attitude with a strong “clients first” mindset.
- Excellent communication skills including the ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
- High attention to detail and a consistent history of accuracy in completed work.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Ability to adapt.

Responsibilities:
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
- Deliver an exceptional level of service to our clients.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal and state employment law and compliance requirements.
- Handle FMLA and ADA requests for clients, including coordinating with the client regarding claims for leaves of absence, FMLA, ADA, short-term disability, etc. Provide a general notice to FMLA-eligible employee about their rights. Refer and/or coordinate with internal attorneys when claims become complicated and need legal assistance.
- Assist with processing complaints regarding sexual harassment, discrimination, or other instances of workplace harassment and assist in any necessary investigations or disciplinary actions for clients.
- Review and revise employment-related policies.
- Conduct exit interviews for clients.
- Assist clients with disciplinary actions.
- Draft employment documentation such as status change memos, compensation change memos, and job change memos for clients.
- Assist with routine employment inquiries from our clients such as benefits questions and other HR-related questions.
- Maintain the integrity, organization, accuracy, legal compliance, and confidentiality of all HR-related documents and records, both in paper and electronic formats.
- All other duties, as assigned.
