The Opportunity
TC Energy’s Canadian Measurement Operations Engineering team is seeking an Operations Engineer to provide multi-disciplinary technical support to operations, focusing on meter station assets located within your assigned geographic area.
The position is based out of Calgary and will be primarily supporting measurement facilities located in Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, and Quebec.
Our team is focused on providing day to day operations support for meter stations while identifying, defining, and scoping solutions to improve asset reliability and mitigate risk at Canada Gas meter stations. The Measurement Operations Engineering role plays an important part in ensuring the right work is done at the right time, and at the right place!
What you’ll do
- Conduct data gathering and engineering analysis for issue resolution, facility health assessments, root cause analysis and risk assessments.
- Provide field operations troubleshooting support to new and ongoing issues. This will include site visits to troubleshoot with operational specialists and engineers.
- Evaluate/Trend operational and engineering data to identify bad actors, system issues, and opportunities to improve equipment reliability maintenance.
- Prioritize work needed to be completed in your geographical area. Use engineering data to assess which sites require more support.
- Facilitate operational decision-making risk assessments for measurement facilities.
- Lead treatment plan actions to support asset and system risk reduction.
- Conduct root cause analysis discussions for equipment failures and support development of corrective actions.
- Provide operational support for inflight GPMC (General Plant Maintenance Capital) projects to ensure risks and solutions put forth in yearly programs are adequately mitigated.
- MOC’s (Management of Change) –scope development, internal design, and implementation.
- Create Engineering Justifications to provide technical recommendation on project needs.
- Support Project Scoping document creation Project Management teams to provide recommended solutions and alternatives.
- Complete Fit-For-Service / engineering assessments.
- Support TOPs (TC Energy Operation Procedure) – development and maintenance.
Minimum Qualifications
- University degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering.
- Registered, or eligible to register with, APEGA as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) in good standing
- 3+ years of progressive relevant engineering experience.
- Demonstrated ability to initiate change and help others adapt to a continuously changing work environment.
- Proven ability to drive short-term and long-term technical solutions to complex and ambiguous problems.
- Experienced with engineering principles, codes, and standards to identify issue and recommend improvements.
- Ability to recognize and adapt to changing business priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Electrical Engineering focus preferred
- Troubleshooting skills, including familiarity with all aspects of facility operation.
- Failure investigation and root cause determination and interpretation of damage mechanisms.
- Familiarity with norms and standards related to equipment reliability, safety, and risk management.
- Time management skills and ability to work independently, including at field locations.
- Previous maintenance process and system development experience.
This position requires candidates to:
- Have and maintain a valid driver’s license and provide a driver’s abstract (record) for review.
- Up to 25% travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings, or training.
- Live in Calgary.
