Rotating Shift: Rotating Day/Afternoon:
Week 1: Mon-Fri 7:00 am to 3:30 pm
Week 2: Mon-Fri 3:30 pm - 11:45 pm
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the efficient setup and operation of various packaging and production pieces of equipment.
- Adjusts equipment to ensure production runs are executed efficiently, with high quality and minimal waste.
- Sets up packaging lines; Performs changeovers and supports tooling handling and cleaning.
- Responsible for the operation of the Line from a technical and production standpoint.
- Partners with QA, Packagers, and Lead Leaders. Identifies and tackles continuous improvement opportunities.
- Uses sound technical knowledge to troubleshoot and repair packaging and production equipment.
- Performs and plans regular preventative maintenance on packaging and production equipment, including overhauls.
- Ensures cleaning protocols are followed for all packaging equipment.
- Assists with/undertakes facilities maintenance as needed.
- Performs packaging tasks associated with packaging pharmaceutical products.
- Participates in projects as assigned: e.g. installation and moving of equipment Implements and supports safe work environment.
- Tackles root cause and risk assessment investigations on equipment.
- Adheres to all safety practices, standard SOP’s and job-specific packaging procedures.
- Reviews machine manuals to achieve optimal equipment run conditions. Participates and supports project execution including documentation and moving of assets.
- Fabricates change parts and bracketry as required.
- Uses hand tools and shop tools proficiently.
- Assists in writing of equipment-related SOPs and validation/calibration documents.
- Utilizes the site’s CMMS to initiate and complete maintenance work orders. Leads and Supports equipment and product qualification processes, as well as technical service visits.
- Ensures appropriate communication is relayed to other shifts.
- Performs other duties as assigned by Manager/Supervisor.
- Knowledge of and adherence to all PCI, cGMP, and GCP policies, procedures, and rules.
- Performs other duties as assigned by Manager/Supervisor.
- Attendance at work is an essential function of this position.
- This position may require overtime and/or weekend work.
Required:
- MUST HAVE a License Industrial Mechanic Millwright (433A), and 6 to 10 years of working experience exclusively as a technician in a pharmaceutical packaging environment.
- Experienced Licensed Industrial or Construction and Maintenance Electrician (442A or 309A), with strong electrical and technical aptitude and/ or 6 to 10 years of working experience.
- None licensed candidates must complete and pass a technical aptitude test involving hands-on demonstration.
- General technical knowledge and experience concerning electrical, pneumatic, and HVAC.
- Familiarity with fill, blistering, bottling, capping, carton packaging, and serialization equipment is a strong asset.
- Analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to multi-task and to meet tight deadlines.
- Self-motivated, able to work independently with minimal direction.
- Core skills in Mathematics and English usually associated with grade 12.
- Interpersonal skills to work co-operatively with Line Leaders, Packagers, and Project Coordinators/Managers.
Preferred:
- Licensed Industrial or Construction and Maintenance Electrician (442A or 309A) or electrical aptitude able to read and understand electrical and pneumatic schematics.
- Fabrication and basic TIG welding.
- Experience as a technician working on complex pharmaceutical or food packaging equipment.
- Ability to exhibit sound and accurate judgment.
- Ability to adapt to changing work environments.
- Ability to demonstrate attention to detail.
