A Building Services Design Engineer (Mechanical) to work within the Building Design Team, part of the Asset Management Service at Lancashire County Council.
Our Building Design Team is a multidisciplinary and specialised team including Architects, M&E Design Engineers, Structural Engineers and Building Services Engineers. We contribute to delivering a comprehensive capital programme which invests in the county council’s property including schools, libraries, museums, and offices.
What we are looking for…
Creative and Ambitious Experienced Building Services Design Engineer (Mechanical)
Collaborative - You’ll be a creative thinker who can work from conception to completion as part of a small, multidisciplinary team working on a whole host of new and refurbishment building projects, your knowledge and experience will contribute to team’s performance each step of the way or leading independently, designing and project managing projects for new and replacement heating plant, heating systems, hot and cold water, gas, ventilation and air conditioning systems,
You’ll be confident and self-assured, with the ability to communicate with a range of technical specialists and partners and your assertive yet diplomatic approach will ensure projects are delivered within budget, in a timely, safe and professional manner.
Innovation – You’ll be a specialist in Building Services Design (mechanical) with an eye on future technology and have a clear understanding of the decarbonisation of building services and how this is applied and managed for a varied portfolio of properties. Your designs will contribute to the decarbonisation of Lancashire’s wider infrastructure with projects such as replacing ageing heating systems with low and zero carbon technology including heat pumps, solar thermal, heat recovery ventilation etc. All in accordance with current guidelines, standards and regulations.
Support - You’ll support the Mechanical Project Manager, your specialist knowledge and experience will contribute to the technical applications, management of project budgets, health and safety etc. We actively provide training opportunities to develop current skills and experience to support the business. The role accommodates Hybrid Working for great work life balance, with a mix of home and office based working.
Respect – You’ll be excellent at Building Services Design (Mechanical) with relevant experience and able to positively challenge and influence the multidisciplinary teams and external partners as well as processes and procedures to ensure legislative and strategic requirements are met.
