Description:
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:
· At least 3 years’ experience as a Design Engineer or Senior Draughtsperson with Engineering expertise.
· Degree or HND/HNC in Mechanical Engineering, supported by relevant working experience.
· Extensive AutoCad and Solidworks Software experience and familiarity.
· Experience in design for manufacture.
· Willingness to take projects/customer enquiries from concept to completion while communicating effectively and professionally to various internal and external stakeholders.
· Flexible and adaptable, in order to work on a number of projects/enquiries simultaneously.
· Ability to work to customer specifications and ensure deadlines are consistently achieved.
· Strong all round communication skills, with the ability to easily convey ideas to clients, senior management and colleagues at all levels.
· Willingness to work hands on in the Factory supporting the Project Management Team to overcome design challenges when executing a project.
· Willingness to learn 3D structural stress analysis and finite element analysis (FEA).
· Desire to research and develop own knowledge and skills, as required by product/design development.

Responsibilities:
ROLE SUMMARY
Reporting to the Engineering Manager you will be preparing design briefs, detailed specifications and BOM’s, to fulfil our customers lifting requirements.
The role demands will be exciting and varied, driven by the demands and requirements of our industry and global customer base. As a result, it requires an Engineer who is capable prioritising tasks, thinking innovatively and creatively, as well as communicating effectively and holding a meticulous eye for detail.
Product specific internal training will be provided, however lifting equipment design experience is preferred and incredibly advantageous. You must be willing to embrace a challenge and learn our niche products and industry demands quickly.
We are very much ‘one team’ and as a result the willingness and ability to support colleagues, working closely and professionally with other Departments and Management is absolutely essential.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Becoming a technical specialist in relation to our products and offering our customers the best solution to their lifting challenges.
· Developing a knowledge of lifting law and standards.
· Preparing design briefs and detailed specifications.
· Taking projects/customer enquiries from concept to completion while communicating effectively and professionally to various internal and external stakeholders. For lengthy projects this will require long periods of working autonomously, liaising with the customer regularly and reporting back progress to internal stakeholders.
· Design and draughting using AutoCAD and Solidworks Software.
· Producing detailed setout drawings, fabrication drawings and general arrangement (GA) drawings.
· Selecting appropriate materials, section sizes, and components.
· Producing full technical files for company products.
· Producing literature for User Instructions and marketing materials.
· Working closely with all members of the Engineering Team to share knowledge and expertise.
· Liaising with various stakeholders such as internal colleagues and subcontractors and suppliers.
· Supporting the design, research and development of new products from initial concepts through to prototyping, pre-production and final release.
· Supporting the Project Management Team to overcome design challenges when executing a project.
· Supported by a Manager or Director, conducting both remote and on-site client meetings as required at enquiry stage and throughout fulfilment of a project. Representing the business, understanding customers requirements, offering expertise and communicating project milestone progress.
· When required by a specific project, visiting subcontractor sites to assist them to carry out pre-production, assembly, trials, and testing of products, supported by others as necessary e.g. AP Lifting Operations.
· Once trained, conducting structural stress analysis and finite element analysis (FEA).
· Working on day-to-day enquiries and supporting other members of the Engineering Team as required.
ROLE SPECIFICS:
· Availability: We are recruiting 1 experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Engineering Department
· Location: Office Based - Holton Heath Trading Park, Poole.
· Salary: £32,000 - £38,000 Dependent on Experience.
· Working Hours: Monday to Thursday 08:30 to 17:30. Friday 08:30 to 16:00 (total of 40 hours per week).
