Here’s how a(n) Mechanical Design Engineer for our Edmonton Melloy office contributes to our team:

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5 years of experience in pressure equipment (vessel, heat exchanger or pressure piping) construction design.
  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in Engineering.
  • Practicing Professional Engineering Member of APEGA.
  • Thorough knowledge of ASME codes, API standards, NBIC regulations and ABSA requirements.
  • Strong foundational knowledge in structural and pressure equipment design principles.
  • Attention to detail in reviewing client’s specs and to provide error free engineering documents.
  • Working knowledge and experience in Welding and Fabrication.
  • Good knowledge of planning and work sequences in construction.
  • Intermediate skills using Excel and Word software.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills - dealing with multiple supervisors and sub-trades.

Responsibilities:

  • Performing and reviewing structural, pressure vessel, and pressure piping designs ensuring they meet all applicable codes and regulations.
  • Using COMPRESS and standardized design spreadsheets to complete all design calculations.
  • Development of bills of material and shop notes meeting the customer’s specific requirements.
  • Anticipating safety concerns in the constructability of a project and provide solutions to mitigate risk.
  • Providing technical support and coordination including research into alternative construction and engineering methods.
  • Preparing and submitting required registration package as necessary.
  • Providing regular status updates of engineering and drawings to the management.
