We are seeking a talented Mechanical Design Engineer to drive the design of our key pressure equipment for crystallization and polymer processes.
In this role, you will create detailed designs, manage technical specifications, and act as the main technical liaison for suppliers, customers, and internal teams. You’ll also have the chance to mentor junior engineers and oversee the continuous development and improvement of our equipment. Responsibilities:

YOUR MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop conceptual equipment designs according to internal standards and specifications, international norms, and customer specifications.
  • Review and verify detail and layout drawings from suppliers, other Sulzer regions, and customers.
  • Prepare technical order specifications for procurement.
  • Serve as the main technical contact for suppliers, clients and internal departments regarding mechanical design of key equipment for crystallization and polymer processes.
  • Support continuous improvement and the development of internal standards and working tools focusing on operational excellence.
  • Calculate key equipment costs during the sales support phase.
  • Support the Product Line Management with equipment technical mechanical design expertise.
  • Document know-how from the Mechanical Engineering group and maintain templates within the equipment engineering team in coordination with the Head of Mechanical Engineering
  • Participate in technology conferences.
  • Standardize equipment design, tools, and processes in coordination with the Head of Mechanical Engineering.

TO SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL NEED:

  • University degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical subject.
  • Professional experience working in a similar role within a transferable industry - motivated recent gradautes are welcome.
  • Expertise (e.g. professional, technical) in the following areas: Mechanical Engineering Design and Standards, Pressure Vessel Design codes, and CAD (SolidWorks).
  • Strong ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, demonstrate reliability and effective communication, solve problems creatively, and continuously improve and adapt to changing standards and practices.
  • Fluency in English, knowledge of other languages, in particular German, are a plus.
