Description:

Team JAS is looking for a driven, goal-oriented Mechanical Design Engineer with a passion for innovation, problem-solving, and developing cutting-edge solutions to join our team in Jacksonville, FL. We serve a global customer base of airlines, OEMs, and MROs with distribution, component repair, and PMA parts.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 3+ years experience in mechanical design using CAD software
  • Minimum of two-year associate degree in drafting or related technical discipline
  • ASME Y14.5.2-2017 GDTP Technologist Level Certification or demonstrated equivalent

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Certification in Solidworks software
  • Experience with aerospace and manufacturing
  • Formal training or education in system design or engineering
  • ASME Y14.5.2-2017 GDTP Senior Level Certification
  • Experience with aerospace mechanical systems construction
  • Familiar with design and operation of general mechanical equipment including pumps, chillers, actuators, mechanical linkages, oleo-pneumatic strut, etc.
  • Knowledge of 3D software (GeoMagic DesignX and Verify, 3DSimplify, etc..)

Responsibilities:

  • Generate detailed Solidworks drawings and 3D model views as required to define fabrication and specific design requirements. These designs may be multi-level assemblies (pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical levers or linkages), special hardware, bearings, landing gear details, subs, etc…
  • Review project specifications.
  • Participate in product development/improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Project Engineers to gain a thorough understanding of the project design.
  • Participate in project team meetings and activities related to project execution.
  • As necessary, develop the required Bill of Materials or Parts List with the Project Engineer
  • Collaborate with the Supply Chain team during the project manufacturing process.
  • Review design documents to ensure manufacturability and design specification(s) are adequate to meet project objectives and certification requirements.
  • Coordinate with the Project Engineer and Supply Chain to facilitate the exchange of information throughout the project, from the proposal stage through the shipment of project deliverables
