The company employs creative designers and experienced engineers who operate out of i4PD’s bright and spacious studio on the south side of Edinburgh. The team work collaboratively with clients to augment their internal capabilities and availability to deliver excellent results, faster.
You will be able to work part of the time remotely or full time in our bright and open studio based 20 minutes south of Edinburgh’s centre in stunning rural surroundings with views of the Pentland Hills. ABOUT YOU:

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Lead to manage a team with the responsibility to design and develop mechanical systems for customer projects across a wide range of industries. You will also be responsible for delivering technical work which meets the high standards expected to ensure i4PD’s standing in the development community, as well as complying with i4PD’s internal Quality Management System (QMS).
Alongside the estimation of new projects, you will also play a support role in new business development activities that help to elevate, promote, and endorse the mechanical capability of i4PD.
Your expertise will also be employed to conduct technical reviews and provide training for more junior members of the mechanical team, conduct yearly appraisals, set team strategy and oversee key projects.
Key technical activities include: R&D, concept generation, detailed CAD design, prototyping, procurement, prototype assembly and technical reviews.
