Advanced Flow Systems Contract Manufacturing is looking for an experienced and energetic Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Chilliwack, BC.
EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Professional Engineering Designation or EIT
- At least 5 years’ working experience on Projects in an Industrial engineering capacity
- Experience with SolidWorks for 3D modeling and drawing creation
- Intermediate to advanced experience with current generation Microsoft Office software
- Experience on structural design an asset
- Hydraulics, electrical, and pneumatics experience an asset
- Specific areas of knowledge:
- steel and aluminum material design / fabrication in Industrial Applications
- Industrial Biogas System Experience
- design for manufacture, manufacturing processes
- Detailed oriented and the ability to prioritize effectively
- Positive outgoing attitude; with a professional demeanor
- Strong mechanical aptitude and hands on design and testing skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Able to check and supervise work of other EITs and designers
- Able to make sound decisions when equipped to do so or seek decisions from the engineering manager as necessary
- Able to work independently without detailed supervision

Responsibilities:
- Participate in all aspects of new product development and the product development process
- Provide innovative solutions for concept generation of new products and custom projects
- Prepare documentation for new products including project schedule, cost estimate, drawings / BOM, specifications, calculations, and test plan / reports
- Support design decisions through structural / scantling calculations and FEA studies
- Use modern analytical processes such as DFMA (Design for Manufacturing and Assembly) to develop low cost and high-quality products led mechanical design work including material selection
- Review applicable codes and standards to ensure design conformity
- Prepare calculations and submissions to demonstrate regulatory compliance
- Communicate with regulatory bodies and inspectors for successful product acceptance
- Liaise in a professional manner with clients, consultants, contractors and vendors as required
- Work closely with various departments including sales, service, supply chain and manufacturing
