GENERAL SUMMARY

To provide engineering expertise to the Aftermarket (AM) Business with a focus on supporting Customers, Sales, Tendering, Operations and Field Service activities globally.
Providing Technical support for all design aspects of all types of pumping equipment.
Providing Technical support on tender enquiries.
The Mech. Engineer possess skills in Mechanical Engineering Design and has the ability and drive to apply these skills while working on engineering related project activities.
They apply their technical knowledge to allow the company to provide products and services that meet customer requirements, providing technical resolution of problems across the full product lifecycle from pre-win bid support through design/make into in-service site support. And will be a full life cycle partner for our clients. They are party to development activities to ensure that the company has access to the latest technology and ensures it remains competitive.

SKILLS

  • Combination of Mechanical Engineering skills and behavioral attributes required of a Mechanical Engineer (professional, ethical, practical, problem solving, customer focused, approachable and assertive whilst willing to listen to others).
  • Technical report writing.
  • Familiar with pump performance testing and field trouble shooting/analysis techniquesAbility to operate equipment and undertake the full range of Mechanical Engineering Design tasks in support of project execution.
  • IT skills required for discipline specific software, both as user and ability to influence software development.
  • Team working ability and an attitude of collaboration, mentoring and flexibility.
  • Desire and ability to develop skills beyond current level of expertise.
  • Desire and ability to train others on the skills of the function.
  • Ability to influence Technical Direction.
  • Willingness and confidence to communicate (written and presentation) with a professional and knowledgeable approach and manner to all levels, including Snr. Management, Shop-floor as well as Customer and Supplier representatives.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with related experience/training, or equivalent combination of education and additional practical and professional experience.
  • Ability to demonstrate a high level of experience in undertaking Mechanical Engineering Design tasks without supervision.
  • Minimum of 5 years industry experience.
  • Good interpersonal, communication and influencing skills
  • Ability to guide and train colleagues
  • Ability to set and hit personal, team and project deadlines
  • An interest in self development, Pump & related Package Technology and Engineering
  • An active and valuable team participant who puts the Team success before individual success

Responsibilities:

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)

  • Provide technical support and engineering design capability to the AM Business.
  • Support Field Technical Services (e.g. Pump system assessments, material and design upgrades for all brands of rotating equipment, hydraulic re-design and up-rates, on-site supervision, asset management, vibration analysis, condition monitoring, re-engineering and upgrading of 3rd party pumps and parts and customer training)
  • Reviewing customer specifications
  • Assessing and agreeing Engineering plans and milestones, and reporting on performance of engineering execution.
  • Work with Principals and other peer groups within Engineering and other Facility functions in a collaborative manner to identify resource pool requirements and deliverables.
  • Provide Mechanical Engineering Technical support through the full product life-cycle from pre-ward through design/make to in-service site support.
  • Undertake the full range of Mechanical Engineering Design tasks including, but not limited to, Design Calculations to Standards and Engineering Plans, FMEA, Risk Assessment, DFMA, VE, relevant product and market CODE / Standards compliance (e.g., ASME, API etc).
  • Helping team to achieve project deadlines, delivered with desired quality, cost and efficiency.
  • Represent Engineering in support of other Facility Functional requirements in relation to Engineering performance (e.g. Supply Chain, Operations, Quality, Projects and finance etc.
  • Mentor subordinates within team
  • Works to develop functional skills and advanced disciplines of self.
  • Interface and support downstream activities post design phase (shop-floor, test, commissioning and warranty)
  • Maintenance of company standards relating to discipline
  • Responsible for driving standardization of products, process, tools and calculations etc., to reduce time/risk
  • Establish and maintain links with external bodies and resources related to discipline
  • Ability to work Off site, this ranges from 1 week to 1 month in the Field.
