Are you ready to kickstart your career in maintenance engineering? We are looking for a motivated Mechanical Engineer Apprentice to join our team at the Longburn Dairy site. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to learn and grow in a hands-on environment, working alongside experienced site engineers and electricians.
Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday 8am- 4:30pm
Hourly rate: $23.15 p/h (increases $2.50 p/h every year until qualified)

Key Responsibilities

  • Scheduled Maintenance: Assist in maintaining machinery and equipment, including control systems, pumps, motors, conveyors, and manufacturing equipment, to ensure optimal performance through preventative and predictive maintenance tasks.
  • Machine Breakdowns: Engage in problem-solving and repairs to minimize downtime and ensure maximum machine uptime.
  • Continuous Improvement: Participate in identifying and implementing opportunities for process and equipment improvements.
  • Quality and Safety Standards: Contribute to driving factory quality and Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) standards, ensuring continuous and sustainable improvements in site safety.

About You

  • A relevant pre-trade qualification is preferred but not essential.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • A team player with a collaborative mindset.
  • NCEA Level 2 in Maths and English.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Solid problem-solving skills.
  • A strong work ethic, reliability, and self-motivation.
  • A keen desire to learn and continuously improve.

Expectations

  • Complete online assignments accurately and on time.
  • Attend block courses and night classes as required.
  • Adhere to training requirements necessary for achieving the Maintenance Engineering trade certification.
