ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Nuclear Power Programmes are delivering client critical works to some of our major UK and European Projects. Our embedded teams are delivering support to Hinkley Point C (New build power station in the South West), Sizewell C (located in the South East), helping develop technologies in SMR (Small modular Reactor) capability and working towards building Poland’s first Nuclear Power station.
Working in both client facing and internal roles we are delivering major programme and project management capabilities throughout the project lifecycle. We are driving to deliver safe, high quality and to time solutions by thinking innovatively and working collaboratively.

We are currently looking for a Mechanical Engineer who will work closely with the mechanical engineering team working from the HPC site. Key responsibilities will be:

  • Making clarifications of the deliverables necessary for the construction with the help of the Back Office who carried out the studies (Bristol and France – Malakoff / Tours),
  • Gathering input data, analysing / updating hypothesis notes and loading description reports
  • Performing mechanical stresses analyses
  • Piping flexibility calculations and calculation of piping supports and performing mechanical stresses analyses
  • Analyzing the mechanical behavior of the piping network with respect to the codified criteria,
  • Proposing appropriate and proportionate modifications in case the sizing criteria are not met
  • Assessing and answering technical issues arising during manufacturing, construction works, erection,
  • Assessing and integrating modification coming from the stakeholders after packages handed-over to JDO,
  • Carrying out hand calculations and running anchorages macros to assess the feasibility of modification.

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Science, mechanical engineering degree
  • First experience in Civil Work and Steel structures design and constructions activities
  • Knowledge of EUROCODE, RCC-M code (if possible)
  • Knowledge of the HPC project or previous EPR and associated studies/doctrine is a real asset
  • Knowledge and CI & BoP buildings and specificities will be an added value
  • Ability to prioritise, to manage numerous interfaces, to question and understand the imperatives of other downstream disciplines. Ability to meet commitments and deadlines
