Description:
Yamaha has an excellent opportunity for a Development Engineer I to join our Marine team in Kennesaw, GA. The Development Engineer I will support Accessory Engineering staff and develop new projects per the concept request of the Accessory Product Planning team. The Development Engineer designs and develops components for Yamaha Marine Accessory products. This position will encompass the design, development, documentation, and release of new products to production.
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
- BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar.
- Desired 1 to 3 years of in related industry and relevant design experience and knowledge in the following manufacturing processes preferred: Machining, Casting, & Molded parts (plastic).
- NX or Solidworks 3D modeling experience required.
- Desired experience with ANSI Y14.5, GD&T & Tolerance Stack-up.
- FEA & Surfacing experience is a plus.
- Must possess developing engineering judgment and analysis.
- Proficient in MS Office (i.e., Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook).
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize changing workloads.
- Ability and desire to participate on-water testing evaluations on local lakes or possibly the ocean.
- Hobbies or interests that relate to water / watersports / automotive – mobility industries.
- Testing, or data acquisition experience a major positive.
- Strong oral & written communication and presentation skills.
- Must be able to travel to factory, suppliers and various testing/research locations

Responsibilities:
- Responsible for Project Management including design, development, documentation, and release of new products to production including the creation of 3D models, 2D drawings, and Bills of Materials for manufacturing purposes.
- Work with suppliers providing necessary design information to develop components/systems as needed. Ensure production of quality products per industry compliance and Yamaha standards (YGK, WTS and WVDG).
- Manage product development process to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget. Utilize Yamaha accessory development A process and maintain communication with other business functions.
- Coordinate & plan necessary laboratory and ride testing applicable to the components being developed. Oversee the fabrication of prototypes and pre-production components for testing and evaluation. Analyze, interpret, and summarize testing results to determine direction for development of project.
- Collaborate in executing design and qualification test criteria and QFD targets to ensure a product which meets Yamaha performance, quality & reliability requirements.
- Maintain continued learning through first-hand product exposure, structured learning, and continuous industry exposure.
