YOUR CAPABILITIES AND CREDENTIALS
- Proven leadership and mentorship skills
- Project Management knowledge, PMP is a plus
- Experience coordinating with utility companies, authorities having jurisdiction, applicable codes and standards such as OBC, IEEE, CSA, and TSSA
- Strong verbal and written communication in English
- Detail-oriented, organized, hardworking, and a team player
- Understanding of REVIT is a plus
- Familiarity with software used for mechanical engineering such as HAP/Tracer, duct and pipe sizing, and equipment selection
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and registered P.Eng.
Minimum 10 years of experience designing mechanical systems for building projects including but not limited to: hydronic heating and cooling, hydronic snow melting and in-floor heating, domestic hot & cold water, natural gas piping, compressed air, various sprinkler systems, clean agent fire suppression, and BAS architecture from unit level to network
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Responsibilities:
- Design, load calculation, and technical specification for Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC), piping, plumbing, fire protection, building automation (BAS), and natural gas systems for Institutional, Commercial, Healthcare, and Light Industrial building projects
- Prepares contract documents and works with junior engineers, designers, and modelers
- Serves small to midsize teams of engineers, developing clear, actionable career development plans, performing regular performance reviews
- Reviews AutoCAD and Revit models
- Provides thorough knowledge of heat loss/gain calculation, pipe sizing, sanitary and storm system design and pipe sizing, natural gas pipe calculation, building automation system architecture, pre-action sprinkler and clean agent fire suppression system design
- Complete understanding of building mechanical engineering requirement, National Building Code Alberta Edition (NBC-AE), ASHRAE, ASPE, NFPA, and CSA standards for building and site design
- Conducts business development activities to secure new projects by client liaison and proposal preparation
- Perform duties individually or as a team member
- Thorough understanding of project management, operations, finance, resourcing, and reporting to help senior engineers and project managers
- Other duties as assigned/required
