Responsibilities:

  • Be responsible for all Mechanical Maintenance activities in providing a continuous 24 hour maintenance service for all process and ancillary support equipment and services, in order to maximize area Plant availability and Production capability.
  • Co-ordinate the maintenance activities within a specified area of the plant
  • Work in close liaison with managers.
  • Train, guide and develop the team, with a specific eye on apprentice development
  • Allocate parts and prioritise work to maximize effectiveness of engineering resources.
  • Assists Engineering Manager in the control of outside contractors introduced into the area (e.g. dropshifts, development projects, major repair projects), to meet specific work requirements.
  • Responsible for regular testing and maintenance of all Mechanical services and associated standby equipment providing Process and Plant Protection.
  • Improve the net operating efficiency of the designated area of the plant.
  • Proactive approach to spare part asset management.
  • Enforce safe working practices to ensure that all activities are carried out in a safe manner. Provide and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Responsible for the implementation and development of mechanical maintenance routines for the designated areas.
  • Ensure that spare parts are correctly stocked and appropriate.
  • Generate and implement (where applicable) innovations in the area.
  • Engage in plant C.I Activities
