LXC Engineering group, an engineering firm, has an opening for an innovative Mechanical Engineer in our growing Massachusetts office. This position has excellent potential for motivated individuals interested in growing their technical and management expertise within mechanical and sustainability and developing their leadership abilities.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Mechanical Engineer will perform engineering calculations and prepare detailed mechanical engineering drawings for HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection design for buildings primarily within the higher education, science and technology, utility, data center, cannabis, manufacture, industrial, and healthcare market sectors. The Sr. Mechanical Engineer will oversee Mechanical Designers, drafters, and field engineers. In addition, Sr. Mechanical Engineer will mentor/teach personnel in the department team. Sr. Mechanical Engineer will work on Architectural & Engineering projects across the Eastern region.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering OR equivalent from an ABET accredited College or University.
- Minimum of 12 to 20 years’ professional experience as a principal mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection engineer in design, commissioning, energy auditing, and renewable energy.
- Minimum of 7-10 years ‘field experience in heavy commercial, industrial, various governmental agency, cannabis, healthcare, education, and commercial.
- Minimum of 10 to 25 years of professional experience in commercial, industrial, various governmental agency, healthcare, education, and commercial.
- Experience with HVAC, Fire protection, and plumbing building systems mechanical design on simple to complex projects.
- Experience with Naviswworks, Beam, and Microsoft Office
- Must have Auto-cad and Autodesk Revit software for Building Information Modeling (BIM) experience
- Must have 10 years of HAP, Trance, or any plumbing fire protection design software experience
- Intimate knowledge of various New England State Building Codes in the
- Ability to lead and work independently
- Ability to do significant business development at LXCEG, in the magnitude of 15-25%
- Strong teamwork, ethics, and ability to obtain a full background check or meet security clearances
- Strong to excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to communicate the intent of a design graphically and verbally
- Vital to excellent sales and marketing to a client in the MEP/FA/FP consultant industrial
- Strong field technical skills or understanding of route cause of problems in the M/P/FP design, commissioning, and testing
- Strong teamwork, ethics, and ability to obtain a full background check or meet security clearances
- Strong to excellent teaching patient skills; ability to communicate with others seamlessly
- Ability to meet strict deadlines and work well under pressure
- Ability to multi-task
- Capable of providing technical direction and on-the-job training to less experienced designers
- Experience with energy modeling and developing associated reports/presentations. Energy modeling software includes IES VE, E-Quest, Ladybug Tools
- LEED Accredited Professional and previous experience participating in the LEED or other green rating system process
- WELL Accredited Professional
- Experience and interest in sustainable and high-performance building design (energy, water, carbon, occupant health, wellness, and resiliency).

Responsibilities:
- Field survey of existing mechanical, fire protection, and plumbing systems
- Facility assessment survey of existing mechanical, fire protection, and plumbing systems
- Design of HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems for commercial, industrial, or government, school, and healthcare facilities
- Preparation of construction documents, including drawings, specifications, calculations, and details
- Sr. Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for engaging in business development and attracting clients to LXCEG.
- Approval of mechanical submittals and aid in RFI responses during construction administration
- Lead the HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection design and team on a variety of project types
- Directly interface with the client and add value to the client.
- Able to actively participate in the entire project cycle, from the design phase through the final construction close-out.
- Sr. Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for chasing new clients’, businesses, and partners into the company.
- Sr. Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for bringing in projects and leading complex projects.
- Sr. Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for oversight of all technical HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection design and commissioning,
- Responsible for writing and responding to the RFI, RFQ, RFP, RFQ
- Manage the department and the office. - Manage multiple HVAC design projects of various scales through concept, SD, DD, and the CA phases;
- Be the main point of contact for our clients and capable of representing the team at project meetings.
- Organize in-house resources. -Train and mentor junior staff. -Assist with marketing/proposal efforts and proposal presentations.
- Responsible for managing project finances: -Prepares project budgets and monitors compliance with time/schedule deadlines.
- Plans and obtains additional work authorizations required for scope changes. -Accountable for the profitability of the projects managed.
- Developing project objectives, goals, and documentation policies
- Coordinating design between engineering disciplines and the architecture team, engineering calculations, and overseeing drawings production
- Generate work and business development and contribute to company growth.
- Lead the commissioning, energy audit, and renewable team and projects
- Perform energy analysis and apply high-performance design techniques
- Prepare detailed engineering reports and narratives.
- Perform on-site condition surveys.
- Process contractor submittals and assist in the construction administration process.
- LEED Accredited Professional and previous experience participating in the LEED or other green rating system process
- Estimating budgets and time scopes for each project
- Analyzing problems and coming up with designs to solve them.
- Networking and collaborating with other engineers and professionals
- Working within the budget to deliver safe and efficient products on time.
- Allocating resources and time effectively
- Attending meetings and providing input and updates
- Analyzing data to write up reports
