QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE & ABILITIES:

  • Formal qualifications in Mechanical Engineering are essential
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Mechanical Engineering role in the mining / resources / heavy industry sector(s) is essential and only those applicants will be considered
  • Experience in Microsoft Project and Excel, AutoCAD and SAP is highly regarded
  • Must be proficient in English
  • High levels of attention to detail and ability to build effective relationships

Responsibilities:

OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE

Applications are now open for a Mechanical Engineer to join the Engineering Services & Projects department.
The Mechanical Engineer contributes to organisational and process improvement by providing technical analysis of plant equipment, and designing modifications to optimise existing equipment as well as designing and coordinating the installation of new equipment.
This role is responsible for providing mechanical support to the capital project leaders and mechanical problem-solving support to a number of operational areas of the plant.

This is a residential role, based in Port Pirie, South Australia on a Monday to Friday roster. Relocation assistance will be provided to the successful candidate if required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Provide input and support into the delivery of the site capital plan, major shutdown plan and site operating plants
  • Develop and improve design through the performance of risk analysis
  • Prepare detailed resource planning, project schedule and cost estimates
  • Prepare technical specification for tendering, review tenders and award contracts
  • Provide advice and consultative services in problem solving and trouble shooting in response to mechanical difficulties
  • Provide project justification and recommendations for future of projects; and
  • Support operational teams to plan and implement change
