WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our busy and experienced team based at Beacon Park, Great Yarmouth.
Our Engineering Department is engaged in the design of industrial control systems for the energy industry and upon joining us, you will have day to day responsibilities for delivering key aspects of topside and subsea hydraulic control system products from concept design through to manufacture and test.

On assignment of product or project-based tasks, you will work with colleagues to design and implement subsea and topside controls projects that include, but not limited to:

  • Calculations – structural, hydraulic and hydraulic analyses
  • Bills of materials
  • Functional and technical specifications
  • Procedures - testing, installation, commissioning and operating
  • Work with CAD team to produce schematic, general arrangement and fabrication drawings

In addition, you may be involved in supporting other company functions, such as Manufacturing, Sales, Procurement and Field Services in delivering technical solutions when required in addition to their normal duties. Interaction with Proserv’s customers is a key aspect to the role and when the need arises will be required to represent Proserv at Customer locations, including overseas travel to meet project demands.

EDUCATION

Required

  • Engineering qualification to BTEC (HND) or a suitable technical qualification with the appropriate engineering experience.
  • To show a high level of expertise in the field of hydraulic control systems.

Preferred

  • Engineering qualification at degree (BEng) level.
  • Engineering qualification in mechanical engineering or energy subject.

EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft office.
  • Understanding of industrial mechanical and hydraulic control systems.
  • Outstanding communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work unsupervised.
  • Ability to prioritise workload.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to self-motivate and motivate others to achieve a common objective.
  • Ability to work within time-cost constraints.
  • Ability to self-teach from various sources.
  • High level of self-discipline and pride to be reflected in quality of work.

Preferred

  • Proven track record in delivering subsea and/or topside mechanical controls projects
  • Ability to understand fluid dynamics and structural calculations.
  • Understanding of CAD systems e.g. Solidworks or Autodesk products.
  • Understanding of ERP systems.
  • Understanding of computer-based calculations and analysis software i.e. Mathcad, CS8.
  • Knowledge of materials and their properties.
  • Knowledge of design/manufacture of UKAS rated equipment.
  • Overseas travel - working within a project/team environment.
