Description:

Overview:
The Co-Op Engineer will have the opportunity to learn about the corporate world of product development while making significant and meaningful contributions to execution of product plans in both sustaining engineering and New Product Development. The goal with our co-op program is to partner with candidates for more than than one term to foster the learning of the products made by RPC as well as contribute to meaningful work experience for the students.
The duties of the co-op engineer will vary based on the experience level of the student as well as the number of work terms of experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Learning and performing key tests in the performance lab – mechanical, electrical, and software
  • Designing tests and fixtures for mechanical testing
  • Utilizing SolidWorks to design products and components
  • Build prototypes, create bills of materials work with production on assembly instructions.
  • Performing tolerance stack-up analyses as well as fit, form and functional analyses
  • Understanding and helping to calculate product costs
  • Designing and implementing new designs or design modifications to reduce costs
  • Understanding root cause of product quality issues and designing fixes for the issues
  • Working with Product Marketing to understand Customer and Consumer needs
  • Being part of a design team that creates designs to solve and delight customers and consumers.
  • Work closely with Manufacturing. Understand that impact of designs on the manufacturing process and create designs that solve both consumer needs as well as meet the needs of manufacturing

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate student pursuing a BS in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.3 or above
  • Interest in thermodynamics and refrigeration systems strongly desired
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and to participate and contribute positively in work teams.
  • Strong ability to pay close attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Organized and strong analytical skills, including the ability to identify problems and formulate solutions.
  • Ability to create and understand 3D models in SolidWorks.
  • Authorization to work in the United States required
