For this exciting position, we are specifically targeting students who have a background in Mechanical Engineering who have experience with AutoCAD and Solidworks. You will need to be available to work on-site for the entire duration of the term. You must also currently be a student enrolled in a Canadian post-secondary institution and will be enrolled throughout the duration of the co-op term (you will also be returning back to the post-secondary institution once the co-op term is completed). Proof of a valid work permit will also be required, if applicable.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Working towards an Undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Comfortable working in a dynamic industrial work environment with a range of engineering, technical and operational personnel
- Willingness to work outdoors and able to operate vehicles at our operations, in various weather conditions and terrain
- Motivated self-starter with the ability to manage numerous projects simultaneously
- Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills with a capability to communicate complex ideas to all levels
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) and a solid understanding of AutoCAD and SolidWorks would be advantageous
- Experience with reliability tools (FMECA, FMEA, RCM, RCA, Pareto Graph, Jack-Knife Diagrams) would be an asset
- Able to work efficiently independently as well as part of the team
- Proven ability to learn innovative technologies and platforms quickly, accurately, and efficiently
- Ability to communicate with precision in a technical environment
- Able to articulate sophisticated concepts clearly and in a way a diverse audience would understand
All students will be required to complete pre-employment drug testing prior to commencing work. Proof of a valid work permit will also be required, if applicable.
Responsibilities:
- Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
- Participation in the health and safety programs of Teck to ensure that everyone on site goes home safe and healthy every day
- Collaborate with engineering team to produce detailed designs for mechanical projects on site such as upgrades to mobile mining equipment, processing plant or building facilities
- Coordinate the plan and schedule for maintenance shutdown work
- Support operations and work with skilled trades to design/build lifting devices and other aids for maintenance
- Project Management; opportunity to assist in coordination of maintenance projects relating to plant, mine and maintenance expansions and modifications; responsible for organizing, scheduling and monitoring the status of maintenance projects
- Monitor project budgets and identify inefficiencies and offer cost effective solutions
- Create and evaluate innovative ideas and technologies to help improve the way we do business
