GENERAL SUMMARY

Astronics Test Systems seeks a visionary Mechanical Engineering Manager with exceptional leadership and organizational abilities. You’ll spearhead the ME Design team, driving innovation in designing and developing advanced test systems and solutions critical to our customers’ mission-critical equipment. Your role will demand not just management, but inspirational leadership, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and collaboration.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proven leadership in engineering.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and team-building abilities.
  • Expert proficiency level in SolidWorks and PDM.
  • Deep knowledge of electromechanical system design and manufacturing processes.
  • Familiarity with ASME, ISO, and other relevant standards.
  • Proficient in drafting proposals and assessing project scopes to precisely estimate labor and material costs for various initiatives.
  • Experienced in taking product design from concept to production.
  • Experience designing to meet Environmental and Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) requirements.
  • Experience with Additive Manufacturing technologies (FDM, SLA, SLS).
  • Experience with Industrial Design concepts is a plus.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in root cause analysis.
  • Must be a US person.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or related field is required, Master’s Degree (MSME/MBA/MEM) is preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in Mechanical Design.
  • 3+ years of experience in Engineering Management.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

  • Proficient in using CAD software, such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD.
  • Experience with simulation and modeling tools, such as ANSYS, COMSOL, or SolidWorks Simulation.
  • Experience with 3D scanning and post-processing tools like Geomagic Design X is a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.

  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with various departments to ensure seamless integration of engineering solutions and alignment with overall business strategy. Must have good communication skills and the ability to manage remote teams working across the globe.
  • Resource and Project Management: Efficiently manage resources, including personnel and budgets, ensuring timely and cost-effective project completions.
