Description:

Reporting to the Sr. Director of Engineering, the PI Mechanical Engineering Manager will oversee and lead a Mechanical Engineering team, handling all aspects of engineering, such as design, development, qualification/validations, manufacturing verification and installation of production irradiators. In addition to working closely with drafters, designers, and electrical/controls engineers, this role will collaborate with the Principal Engineer on the technical aspects of the projects.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree Engineering - Mechanical Aerospace or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in an engineering role within an industrial environment.
  • Minimum 3-5 years proven experience in a managerial role within a manufacturing and engineering environment.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in Design & Mechanical engineering software and tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and resources effectively.
  • In-depth understanding of quality and regulatory requirements in engineering.

Responsibilities:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate closely with the Control Engineering team, commercial operations, procurement, and customers to review RFEs and engineering quotes for new and retrofit projects involving mechanical equipment.
  • Efficiently manage change control processes in line with quality and regulatory requirements.
  • Establish and maintain engineering and design-related policies, procedures, and training protocols.
  • Develop strong relationships with Control Engineering Sales, Quality Assurance, Procurement, Operations and Facilities, Design Office, Global Logistics, as well as external customers and suppliers.
  • Manage team budgets and resources effectively.
  • Ensure timely execution of customer deliverables, adhering to timelines and budgetary commitments.
  • Develop and maintain team objectives and career development plans for a growing team.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry tools and training to foster ongoing professional growth.
  • Lead a culture of continuous improvement within the team.

  • Lead the development and execution of innovative mechanical design solutions.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to the mechanical engineering team.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of mechanical engineering processes with project goals.
  • Oversee the implementation of manufacturing processes, ensuring efficient production of mechanical components.
  • Evaluate and integrate new technologies and methodologies into the mechanical engineering workflow.
  • Drive research and development initiatives to enhance product performance, reliability, and efficiency.
  • Champion adherence to safety and regulatory standards within the mechanical engineering team’s projects.
  • Diligently execute all assignments and duties as directed by the supervisor.
