We are looking for new grad mechanical engineers to join our Mechanical Engineering team!
Mechanical EIT Responsibilities:

Mechanical Engineers at Fluor are, in general, responsible for the following activities:

  • Collaborate with other technical disciplines in the development of project design criteria.
  • Perform preliminary design and selection of mechanical equipment.
  • Provide equipment technical data and pricing to support the preparation of project estimates.
  • Prepare technical specifications and Request for Quotations (RFQ) for mechanical equipment.
  • Participate in technical evaluations of vendor’s designs and proposals.
  • Prepare technical sections of mechanical equipment Purchase Orders (PO) and Contracts.
  • Act as primary technical contact and technical authority on assigned equipment packages.
  • Coordinate design interfaces between vendors and other technical disciplines.
  • Engage and coordinate with clients and external parties.
  • Participate in project design reviews.
  • Conduct meetings and manage correspondence.
  • Support equipment fabrication activities by reviewing vendor technical data, conducting vendor shop visits, and witnessing performance tests.
  • Provide engineering support during the Construction, and Commissioning & Start-up phases.

Mechanical Engineers can work on a variety of equipment types. The Mechanical Engineering Department is organized in the following equipment sub-discipline groups:

Heat Transfer Engineering

  • Unfired Equipment: Shell and tube exchangers, air cooled exchangers, plate-type exchangers, hairpin exchangers, cooling towers, and surface condensers.
  • Fired Equipment: Boilers, OTSGs, HRSGs, heaters, flares, and incinerators.

Pressure Vessel Engineering

  • Reactors, columns, column internals, drums, and spheres.

Rotating Equipment/Machinery Engineering

  • Compressors, pumps, blowers, steam and gas turbines, turbo-expanders, and internal combustion engines.

Packaged Equipment Engineering

  • Specialty equipment including, but not limited to filters, mix and separation equipment, chemical feed systems, water treatment plants, and material handling equipment (e.g., cranes, conveying systems).

Heating Ventilation & Air Conditioning (HVAC) Engineering

  • Air handling units, air-cooled package air conditioning units, direct/indirect fired heating units, building unit heaters, fans, and dampers.

Metallurgy & Welding Engineering

  • Development of Material Selection Diagrams (MSDs), input to piping line classes and mechanical equipment materials of construction, review of welding procedure specifications (WPSs), procedure qualification records (PQRs), and non-destructive examination (NDE) procedures, fabrication and construction support, cathodic protection, corrosion, insulation and coating, etc.

Career Paths:

Mechanical engineering new grads have several career path options with Fluor depending on the specific persons’ interest and aptitude:

  • Develop into a technical Subject Matter Expert with the Company.
  • Develop into Lead Mechanical Engineer responsible for complete Engineering and Design.
  • Develop into Engineering Managers on projects directing entire Engineering efforts or they can develop into Project Engineers and Project Managers.

BASIC JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Graduating with a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2024/2025.
    Fluor’s projects are organized into task forces which operate as a team. Successful candidates will be working closely with other employees. Therefore, strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential to the job.
