We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Estimator to join our team in our Penticton office. The ideal candidate will be experienced in handling a wide range of estimating tasks related to all aspects of mechanical scopes of work in the construction industry. This fast-paced position requires someone who can multi-task and adapt to constantly changing priorities while maintaining a pleasant, professional demeanour. Flexibility with respect to workdays is mandatory to meet critical deadlines.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in mechanical estimating doing Plumbing, Sheet Metal, Refrigeration, Hydronics take offs in the construction industry.
- Previous Project Management/Project Coordination experience would be an asset.
- Experience with lump sum, unit price, and cost plus contracts an asset.
- Well organized, computer literate, creative, accurate, flexible, diligent, ability to travel part time and enjoy challenges.
- Able to work well as a team member and be resourceful while maintaining efficiency and meeting deadlines.
- Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management degree is an asset, relevant experience or education will be considered.
- Strong computer background including experience with MS Office, Bluebeam, Benchmark, and Autobid.
- Trades/”Hands On” (Plumbing, Pipefitting) experience would be an asset.
Responsibilities:
- Work with an estimating team including other managers.
- Prepare preliminary estimates and revises using proprietary in-house estimating system.
- Analyze plans, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare bid estimates for projects.
- Include all aspects of bidding:
- Procuring new projects to bid.
- Project site investigations.
- Material and subcontractor solicitation.
- Quantity take-off.
- Estimating labour and equipment costs.
- Creates bid proposals.
- Orders and manages bid bonds.
- Review other estimates prepared by other staff.
- Maintain a database of subcontractors and suppliers and of historical project cost data.
- Maintain a database of historical bid results.
- Assume Project Coordinator responsibilities - helping procure equipment and materials from tender if awarded – as required.
