Job Description
This Mechanical Fitter is based on a mechanical assembly / fitter role based in a machinery manufacturing company that mainly exports its products offshore. The employee will be required to undertake the key points below but will also need to be flexible to be able to help out across the whole scope of production of these units. We require the employee to have a good eye for detail and to complete work to a high standard . The employee will be given instructions from the factory manager on which tasks to undertake. The employee needs to have the required skill level to undertake the assembly and will also be given guidance and training where needed as much of our machines are specialized.
What You Get To Do
Act as a safety leader and put safety first in all responsibilities, promoting an environment where each employee makes safety their priority
Prioritise jobs to meet shipment dates.
Help direct, guide and train other employees.
Strong focus on detail.
Gather parts for sub assembly builds.
Access solid works/e-drawings to get required information needed to assemble sub assemblies.
Use drawings to spec components required on builds.
Hands on assembly to build parts.
Required to keep a clean work area.
Follow given instructions.
Check quality and fit of incoming parts.
Liaise with design team.
Experience in stainless steel products.
Tig welding.
Help out with machine commissioning.
Break down and pack machines up.

What We Want From You
Trade certification – NZQA level 4 preferred.
Good computer skills
Must have the ability to work in a team-based environment, assist others when needed and lead by example while focusing on safety, quality and productivity.
Must believe in promoting a positive culture within the facility focused on pride, ownership and accountability
Ability to lift, push, pull and carry up to 35 pounds on a frequent basis
Required to stand, sit, squat, bend, walk, lift (as noted above) and climb frequently throughout the day on a daily basis
Most working hours are spent in a manufacturing production environment with the majority of that time spent standing, walking and moving around the machine to assemble manufacturing equipment.
Personal protective equipment is required at all times
Read and write English
Must be allowed to work in New Zealand
Frequent interaction with others.
Plant environment experience.
