ABOUT US:

Austex Dies is a subsidiary of the Capral Group. We are Australia’s leading extrusion die manufacturer. Our capabilities include CADCAM Design, a full range of CNC machining including Turning, Milling, EDM Erosion and Wire Cutting and in-house Heat Treatment facilities.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience
  • Experience on conventional lathe with accurate workmanship
  • Strong track record in quality manufacture
  • Attention to detail / quality driven
  • Understanding of properties and machinability of steel in extrusion dies
  • Ability to turn blank on soft and hard state on lathe
  • Manual turning on borer / accuracy of radial drill
  • Ability to work shift work (as required)
    Applicants must also be prepared to undertake a pre-employment medical inclusive of drug and alcohol test.

Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE

This position is to join our experienced team with in-house die manufacture, to ensure the ongoing quality of extrusion dies are available to meet production demands.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

  • Demonstrate experience on conventional lathe
  • Good basic understanding of the properties and machinability of tool steel Reviewing drawings and specifications to determine suitable material, method and sequence of operations, and machine settings.
  • A well developed ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Fitting fabricated metal parts into products and assembling metal parts and subassemblies to produce machines and equipment.
  • Checking fabricated and assembled metal parts for accuracy, clearance and fit using precision measuring instruments.
  • Diagnosing faults and performing operational maintenance of machines, overhauling and repairing mechanical parts and fluid power equipment.
