Description:

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Experience in the field of assembly and troubleshooting Optical, Electronic and Mechanical devices
  • Thorough understanding of techniques in the use of hand tools, soldering, crimping and optical bench practice
  • Ability to use a variety of electronics and optical measuring devices
  • Analytical thinking and self-motivated. Mechanical & electrical trouble shooting skills with attention to detail.
  • Good hand-eye coordination/dexterity and ability to read and interpret technical drawings
  • Good written and verbal command of the English language
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills that translate into working with/on multiple teams.
  • Excellent organization skills and able to prioritize work with minimal supervision.
  • Multitasking various projects/repairs at once
  • Ability to identify discrepancies in documentation and take corrective actions.

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Post-Secondary Diploma – Mechanical/Electrical Technician
  • 5-8 years of experience in the field of mechanical/electrical assembly and troubleshooting electronic/mechanical devices
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing an asset
  • ERPLN experience is an asset
  • Customer service experience is an asset

Responsibilities:

  • Disassemble, repair and/or troubleshoot mechanical, optical and electrical assemblies following all established manufacturing processes and procedures in alignment with AS9100 standards
  • Perform outgoing testing on Circuit Card Assembly (CCA), Line Replaceable Unit and various other assemblies
  • Perform software/firmware configuration and verification, plus Testing of electronic control boxes
  • Troubleshoot electronic assemblies to functional level. Help with route cause analysis.
  • Work with Engineering, Optics, Coating, Machine Shop and Quality Assurance on ensuring standards are met and product conforms to customer requirements
  • Participate in the development of Factory Service repair process for lenses. (testing, assembly process and documentation)
  • Perform lens/peripheral level evaluations and create estimates for repairs
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement activities, including 5S best practices
  • Facilitate On-the-Job Training when required
  • Continuously develop knowledge and skills through cross training
  • Some international travel possible but travel to Don Mills for training required
  • Support peripherals team for production and repair units.
