We are expanding our portfolio to include cutting-edge data centre development projects and are therefore seeking experienced data centre professionals.
Goodman is seeking an experienced Mechanical Package Manager (based in Frankfurt or Amsterdam) to join our expanding Data Centre project team. The ideal candidate will oversee the design, installation, and commissioning of critical mechanical systems including HVAC and cooling infrastructure. The Mechanical Package Manager ensure these systems are implemented correctly, meeting project specifications and industry standards to maintain optimal data centre operations.
More concretely, this means:

Key Responsibilities:

  • The Mechanical Package Manager has overall responsibility, for the management of all aspects of the mechanical package.
  • This includes contractor design, procurement, contract governance, pre-construction, mobilisation, commercial aspects and delivery through to hand over with a defect free ambition.
  • They are to lead a safety-first culture as a priority, in all aspects of the mechanical package management process whilst working close with the Project Lead. He/she must ensure that Goodman safety standards are applied in order to achieve the objective of zero accidents on our projects.

Design support:

  • Review and comment on all design information in collaboration with the Goodman engineering team to ensure it is buildable, commissionable, and compliant with Goodman’s requirements and those of the end-user.
  • Work with the Design Team and contractors to identify any design optimisation, and pre-fabrication opportunities.
  • Provide input to early development stage activities (securing land, power, and permits) for new or potential site acquisitions, including risk management from conception to project completion.
  • Support value engineering and optimisation initiatives and deploy them across all projects.

Procurement:

  • Collaborate with the Project Lead and Goodman programme team on the procurement strategy and process.
  • Fully review and evaluate general contractors and sub-contractor mechanical package(s) and/or equipment package(s) tender returns.

Overall Package Management:

  • Manage all aspects of the mechanical package, including contractor design, procurement, contract governance, pre-construction, mobilization, commercial aspects, and delivery through to handover with a defect-free ambition.
  • Undertake robust weekly audits of submitted method statements and risk assessments.
  • Ensure all reports and information defined in the general contractor’s contract documentation are issued within stipulated timeframes.
  • Assist with the preparation of all schedules, understanding critical path activities, system constraints, and interdependencies associated with your package responsibility.
  • Ensure the schedule is maintained and proactively address any delays or slips, advising the Project Lead promptly.
  • Ensure all works undertaken on-site are performed safely. Conduct weekly health & safety tours and record all identified issues on the Project H&S tool.

Quality Assurance QC & Commissioning:

  • Assist with all aspects of quality audit associated with your mechanical package responsibility.
  • Collaborate with internal and external commissioning teams to ensure systems associated with your package responsibility are reviewed, completed, and available for commissioning.
  • Ensure each handover date or area completion is achieved defect and snag-free.
  • Ensure works are completed on time and include defect and snagging clearance.
  • Ensure that handover documents are complete and meet the required standards.

Reporting and Risk Management:

  • Proactively contribute to the risk management process, including actively contributing to risk mitigation planning.
  • Provide the necessary package data and narrative for Goodman’s reporting needs.
  • Provide timely, accurate, and consistent progress and status reporting of your package responsibility.
  • Collaborate with the Project Lead and Goodman program team to define and implement Goodman’s standards, protocols, and continuous improvement for the delivery of DC Projects from procurement to execution.

Do you recognize yourself?

  • Significant experience (minimum 5 years) in delivering general contractor or developer roles for DC Development projects. Experience in managing complex projects would be a plus
  • Proven track record of delivering projects on time and within budget with exemplary safety, quality, and sustainability records.
  • Strong leadership, and decision-making skills as well as excellent communication abilities
  • Degree or equivalent in Construction Project Management, Architecture, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Applicable Safety for Managers training.
