Responsibilities:
ROLE:
We are seeking a Mechanical Product Development Engineer to join our research & Development team for our brand sMRT. The engineer will play a pivotal role in helping grow the sMRT product portfolio in the coming years. Working closely with the R&D team members and Project Manager, the role will be required to lead new product development from a mechanical engineering perspective. The role will involve internal collaboration with Sales, Marketing and Production teams, as well as engagement with suppliers and approval authorities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Research product ideas using customer demand and industry trend information.
- Input into design considerations and possibilities at project initiation stage.
- Concept design of new products, including material and component selection justification, via rigorous testing, validation and feasibility.
- Design of tooling required to manufacture products.
- Creation of specifications and test reports on products, materials and components.
- Liaise with internal departments, considering the mechanical design with input into marketing and saleability.
- Detailed design and drawing packs for products and assemblies.
- Good understanding of user requirements and approval expectations.
- 3D printing of prototype products.
- Supplier evaluation input.
- Investigate cost efficiencies throughout the project lifecycle(s), evaluating production options and costs.
- Support engineers, production and operations during design, build and acceptance testing.
- Prepare comprehensive documentation, including layouts, detailed drawings, specifications, manuals and reports.
- To ensure the systems and procedures within the department are adhered to in order for the department to successfully complete its function and to ensure internal and external audit requirements are met, and project timelines are adhered to.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
