JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Member in good standing of Engineers and Geoscientists BC
  • 5-10 years of experience, in an industrial environment is an asset
  • Solid knowledge of manufacturing processes and knowledge of papermaking equipment such as paper machines, steam boilers, pumping system, etc. is an asset
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and MS Project software

Responsibilities:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to the Project Engineering Manager, the Mechanical Project Engineer is primarily responsible for coordinating capital projects to improve equipment and product quality, reduce production and energy consumption costs, and improve the health and safety of our workers.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Assume responsibility for the management of capital projects under their supervision, including feasibility studies, cost studies, installation, modification, start-up and post-start-up follow-up
  • Provide technical support to Maintenance personnel in order to correct and resolve various problems likely to affect the reliability of equipment
  • Provide Mechanical Engineering technical support for other Engineers’ capital projects, the Maintenance Department, and during various daily mechanical and process problems
  • Provide training on the use of new equipment to employees and write monthly reports on major projects
  • Monitor budgets and work to reduce project cost
  • Prepare technical plans and specifications in collaboration with other team members and/or with the help of external consultants
  • Prepare capital projects within the field of activity while making sure to study the problem, search for an effective solution, evaluate feasibility and costs. Consider the impacts on the health and safety of workers, the environment, etc
  • Participate in the development of the annual capital budget in collaboration with the directors of the various departments for the realization of the following year’s improvement projects
  • Know and follow safe work procedures. Identify and communicate to your supervisor the hazards and risks present in your workplace.
