Responsibilities:

THE ROLE

As a Mechanical Project Engineer at Southwest Engineering, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing mechanical engineering projects from concept to completion. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the design, development, installation, and maintenance of mechanical systems are executed efficiently, safely, and within budget. This exciting role includes liaising with clients, preparation of method statements, technical submittals, ordering materials and organising work crews. This is an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to work on their own initiative in a busy and expanding engineering business.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

· Design & Engineering: Develop detailed mechanical designs, technical specifications, and solutions that meet project requirements.
· Team Coordination: Work with multidisciplinary teams, including other engineers, contractors, and clients, to ensure project success.
· Documentation & Reporting: Prepare technical documentation, including progress reports, design documents, and safety assessments.
· Quality Assurance: Ensure all mechanical designs and installations comply with relevant standards, codes, and regulations.
· Problem Solving: Troubleshoot and resolve engineering issues during the project lifecycle, ensuring minimal impact on timelines and budgets.
· Client Liaison: Communicate effectively with clients, ensuring their requirements are understood and met throughout the project.
· Health & Safety Compliance: Enforce a strong focus on health, safety, and environmental standards in all aspects of the engineering process.
