As we continue to grow, we are excited to recruit for a Mechanical Service Writer Supervisor for our Oak Point Highway location.
In this role, you will deliver exceptional customer service to our private passenger vehicle clients, ensuring a smooth and positive experience. You will also oversee the shop floor, supervise mechanics and technicians, coordinate parts and inventory, and ensuring efficient work order scheduling.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Customer Service: Assist customers in a friendly, professional, and efficient manner, providing clear explanations of services and maintaining a positive customer experience.
- Appointment Management: Communicate with customers via phone, text, and email to book and confirm appointments, ensuring schedules are organized and efficient.
- Vehicle Inspection: Conduct initial vehicle inspections with customers, reviewing service needs and discussing recommended repairs or maintenance.
- Service Estimates: Generate accurate service order estimates and quotes, providing clear explanations of costs and work required.
- Customer Inquiries: Confidently answer customer questions or promptly seek the correct information when necessary to maintain trust and transparency.
- Post-Repair Follow-Up: Follow up with customers after repairs to ensure satisfaction and address any additional concerns.
- Complaint Resolution: Address and resolve customer complaints quickly, maintaining professionalism and a solution-oriented approach.
- Parts Management: Oversee parts ordering, ensuring adequate inventory levels and managing returns efficiently.
- Work Order Scheduling: Ensure work orders are scheduled promptly, accurately, and efficiently to maximize productivity and minimize downtime.
- Shop Organization: Ensure the shop floor is organized and clean, with tools and equipment properly maintained and easily accessible.
- Team Supervision: Lead a team of mechanics and technicians providing guidance and support as needed.
- Quality Control: Monitor service quality and ensure all work meets company standards and customer expectations.
- Sales: Promote additional services when required and appropriate.
- Technology & Software: Use automotive software systems to manage service orders, customer information, and inventory, ensuring accurate record-keeping and efficient workflow.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years in an automotive service writer or advisor role, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or leadership position, or ready for this next step in your career.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of automotive systems, repairs, and maintenance procedures to accurately assess service needs and provide recommendations.
- Customer Service: Proven ability to deliver exceptional customer service, build rapport, and resolve conflicts while maintaining a professional and friendly demeanor.
- Leadership Skills: Demonstrated leadership and team management skills, with the ability to coach, mentor, and motivate a team of shop professionals.
- Organizational Abilities: Excellent organizational and multitasking skills, with the capacity to manage scheduling, workflow, and work order assignments in a busy service department.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with customers, service technicians, and management.
- Sales Ability: Proficient in recommending and selling automotive services.
- Problem-Solving: Adept at troubleshooting customer issues and providing practical solutions to enhance service satisfaction.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail in managing service orders, billing, and ensuring service quality control.
- Technology: experienced with automotive software systems, including service management software.
