Description:

ABOUT THE COMPANY

Aliena is a leading Singapore-based space-tech company, aiming at providing high-resolution data to terrestrial businesses by enabling a fleet of imaging satellites to fly closer to the Earth using our proprietary electric propulsion engines. In January 2022 Aliena became the first company to onboard a Hall plasma thruster on the smallest satellite ever launched on orbit to feature such a device. A second launch in July 2023 saw the deployment in orbit of our MUSIC 100 W-class Hall thruster.
We impact lives on Earth by bringing space closer to home. We develop low power engines that enable satellites to fly closer to Earth and provide impactful high-quality data to various market segments such as banking & finance, maritime, aviation, agriculture, energy, security, and defence at an affordable rate.
By joining our dynamic and visionary team, you will take part in defining the future of Earth observation and state-of-the-art low power plasma propulsion systems.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical/Aerospace Engineering, Space Systems Engineering or similar fields
  • Previous experience with mechanical design, technical drawings, and simulations (thermal, mechanical, fluid) is required
  • Fluency with CAD software (SOLIDWORKS) is required
  • Competency in numerical simulation software (ANSYS, FEMM, COMSOL, SOLIDWORKS) for thermal, mechanical (static, dynamic), and fluid (CFD) simulations is required
  • Experience with MATLAB/GNU Octave/Scilab is required
  • Experience with mechanical (vibration, shock) and thermal (thermal cycling) testing is a plus
  • Experience with design, simulation, and testing of space systems is a plus
If you are not ticking all of the abovementioned qualifications, don’t you worry! We are looking forward to helping you accomplish them together with us!

Responsibilities:

  • Drive the research and development effort for the mechanical structure as well as fluidic tubing and electrical harnessing management of our propulsion systems
  • Produce technical drawings
  • Design, built, integrate, and test thermal control systems
  • Assist in the assembly integration and testing of designed subsystems
  • Implement computer simulations (thermal, mechanical, fluid) for the propulsion system and its various subsystems
  • Collaborate with and support the plasma testing, fluidic, and electrical engineering teams in the development and integration of the overall propulsion system
  • Collaborate with the Production team to support the development of assembly, integration, and testing (AIT) equipment from a mechanical point of view
  • Oversee the testing and qualification of the mechanical structures
  • Perform thermal and mechanical (static, dynamic) analyses of the propulsion systems
  • Suggest design improvements to the overall propulsion system architecture from the mechanical and thermal points of view
  • Collaborate with the mission managers and product owners to plan for the production stage of the propulsion systems
