Responsibilities:
- Responsible for day to day management of team and implement resource planning as directed by Production Manager
- Ensure all activities associated with the manufacture, production and assembly of components are produced in the most cost effective way whilst maintaining an efficient use of resources and meeting all safety, design, quality and budget requirements.
- Deliver a positive and productive industrial environment, through effective leadership of all team members.
- Responsible for project budget and cost targets, including meeting and monitoring budgets
- Plan and manage the resource requirements for the production activities in line with production deliverables, cost and budget targets.
- Improve the Production team capability, by identifying and developing team members to take up future leadership roles.
- Provide reports on production activities, including progress against plans, and cost performance reporting
- Coordinate work activities, facilitate running of meetings, control activities of teams, provide training and use of work instructions, procedures, work steps and work orders.
- Responsible for understanding quality requirements and working to meet or exceed quality requirements, report on issues and provide ideas to improve Production
- Take ownership of the development, implementation and management of a comprehensive risk management system in their work area, including formal hazard identification/management, risk assessment, regular workplace inspections and job safety analysis
- Demonstrate commitment to SHE Policy, procedures and practices in accordance with the requirements of the BAE Systems Australia and their respective Business Unit SHE policies, the Safety Health and Environment Management System (SHEMS) and relevant legislation.
About YOU
- Trade qualifications or Mechanical Engineering degree required
- Mechanical/Mechatronics experience in Power & Propulsion and/or Combat Weapons installation (highly desirable)
- Demonstrated experience with a Maritime Sustainment and / or Shipbuilding environment within a people management role (highly desirable)
- Well-developed self management skills and demonstrated ability to work under his/her own initiative to deliver outputs to time, quality and cost
- Ability to balance conflicting priorities to deliver against customer and business requirements, with appropriate stakeholder management
- Negotiate with and influence internal and/or external stakeholders in a way which generates business benefit whilst maintaining key relationships
- Facilitate and capitalise on change and innovation by participating in the introduction and management of change in the workforce, develop creative and flexible solutions and manage emerging opportunities as challenges
- Contribute to a workplace learning environment by creating learning opportunities, promote learning and monitor and improve learning effectiveness
- Proven ability to function confidently within a project team and broader business environment
- Able to form & facilitate problem solving teams in order to achieve engineering systems and processes outcomes
- Eligible to obtain and maintain relevant Defence Clearances
