Jardeg is looking for a Mechanical Superintendent to join the maintenance team at the CNRL Horizon site. This is a permanent position on 4 days on and 3 days off shift schedule, working 11 hours per day. Camp accommodation is provided at the Richardson camp. Flights are provided out of Calgary or Edmonton flight hubs. The shift rotation is Monday-Thursday and flights to site are Monday mornings and from site are Thursday evenings.

As a Superintendent your responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • Reporting to the Site / Project Manager, the Superintendent is responsible for the preparation and execution of maintenance work in accordance with Business Unit requirements and standards including liaising with client personnel and the appropriate Planners.
  • Ensures that all maintenance activities are carried out in a safe, effective manner through adherence to all Workplace Health & Safety regulations, standards and controls
  • Ensures the continued success of maintenance activities by actively identifying, investigating and eliminating the root cause of all actual and potential loss events.
  • Contributes to improving safety and productivity by recommending and implementing changes to procedures, standards, rules and work practices.
  • Primary maintenance responsibilities include HSSE and Quality program compliance, attainment of maintenance milestones, resource management, interface with Supply Chain Management and workforce administration systems.
  • Cost effective utilization of workforce and equipment, including balancing work and resource leveling, will be a priority.
  • Monitor’s maintenance progress, quality control, and scheduling.
  • Ensures the Project Team provides all planning input, systems, procedures, and resources necessary to support the integration of essential project work into the execution schedule for plant and unit turnarounds in an effective, timely and cost-efficient manner
  • Interfaces with Supply Chain Management to support material procurement and contract administration activities as required.
  • Ensures all necessary material and equipment has been procured and is available for use.
  • Key reporting will include critical project parameters such as safety issues, labour issues, progress, trends, maintenance activities, man hours, and quality issues
  • Assist in the development of skilled and knowledgeable employees by recommending and providing training for employees, then evaluating the results of the received training.
  • Manages and maintains an effective labour relations plan to ensure that all maintenance activities proceed without significant disruption to maintenance or plant operations
  • Supports a productive human resource environment through leadership and by ensuring proper administration of all HR procedures and fostering open, two-way communications
  • Ensure all progressive discipline processes are maintain and executed according to Company policy
  • Ensures all maintenance conforms to the approved IFC plans and specifications and that all work is conducted in accordance with permit procedure requirements
  • Ensures all necessary QC inspections of field installations are performed to ensure maintenance compliance to all applicable codes and standards including any Client and Company specific practices or identified requirements
  • Manages the onsite safety, schedule, cost and subcontractors and employees.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or combination of journeyperson certification and required experience.
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in a similar maintenance position.
  • Supervisory position experience and a familiarity with the maintenance and oilfield work practices.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of contractor and procurement principles, practice and legislation. Strong negotiation skills, communication skills, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Team Player to deliver desire outcomes.
  • This role requires a satisfactory criminal record check
  • Satisfactory completion of a Pre-Access Drug and Alcohol Test
  • Proficient in MS office, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Construction Safety Training System (CSTS) 09 or 2020) Certification.
  • Confined Space
  • Aerial Work Platform ticket.
  • Fall Arrest ticket.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PMP designation would be an asset.
  • MMP designation would be an asset.
  • Journeyman ticket / Red seal / Blue seal certification would be an asset.
  • Formal supervisory or management training/certification is an asset
