Description:

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

Secondary School graduation
Holder of a valid BC trade certification in HVAC, Controls or Plumbing with a minimum 5 years’ experience working in the trades
Strong understanding of both maintenance and repairs on mechanical systems related to heating/cooling, plumbing and septic
Knowledge of current applicable BC codes, safety standards and regulations related to plumbing and HVAC
Demonstrable knowledge of Direct Digital Control (DDC) software as it relates to monitoring, maintenance and troubleshooting of systems
Holds and maintains a BC Backflow Assembly Tester Certification
Ability to understand and navigate equipment manuals, blueprints and digital as-builts
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft office (outlook, word processor and excel) as well as familiarity with host and internet-based work order systems and reporting applications
Valid BC driver’s license

Responsibilities:

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for the regular maintenance, installations and repair of mechanical systems related to plumbing, septic, ventilation and heating and cooling systems
Performs regular inspections and preventative maintenance checks on various mechanical systems and provides service recommendations and instructs mechanical team to ensure optimal performance of equipment
Monitors Direct Digital Controls systems and troubleshoots and resolves issues as assigned. Recommends repairs and services performed by external service providers as needed
Responsible for contributing to asset management date input for all new replacement projects and new builds
Assumes responsibility and supports energy cost reductions initiatives
Performs backflow assembly testing on all district devices and completes necessary reports
Ensures mechanical systems are operating safely and communicates any concerns with Supervisors
Estimates repair costs and provides department supervisors and school administrators with recommendations on equipment replacement and new purchases
Orders and keeps accurate inventory of parts and materials related to mechanical department
Ability to work off ladders and at height for general mechanical services as required
Logs and tracks service time and repairs on all district equipment for performance and reporting purposes
Ensures assigned work orders are completed within the work order system regularly and any relevant information regarding work orders is communicated with direct supervisor
Reports any violations of district or provincial policies and regulations for equipment safety
Assists other trades in mechanical and electrical departments when assigned
Keeps in mind the safety of others including school children
Performs other duties as require
