Description:

TRUST IN MOTION.

We are currently seeking a Mechanical Technician, based in Canberra. To ensure the overall smooth and efficient Technical Mechanical scope for the retrofit of Light Rail Vehicles in line with CAF policies and procedures. This position is planning to start in November 2024 and last for at least a year and a half.
The role performs mechanical dismantling or assembly activities from the reception of the cars to their delivery to Tests and subsequently, solves open points of pending finishes, indicated by Quality.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Possess a trade qualification in Mechanical technical disciplines and/or workplace experience in relevant industries such as: Engineering, Automotive, Rail Construction, Manufacturing, Electrical/Electronics.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE

  • Experience of at least two years, in industrial mechanical maintenance activities
  • Recommended experience on railway maintenance, mechanical area.

Responsibilities:

  • Follows drawings, Instruction Sheets and Control sheets to assemble the parts according to CAF procedures.
  • Responsible for mechanical assembly operation in the train, such as: o Disassembly of equipment.
  • Disassembly of interior parts.
  • Assembly of supports for equipment, channelling, and electrical piping.
  • Interior works on seats and handles, in passenger area, driver desk and cabin.
  • On-deck equipment.
  • Works on doors.
  • Adjustment works on bogies.
  • Assembly of rubber joints in doors.
  • Finishing: solving the points detected in the assembly areas, by Quality or by the customer, so that the cars and units are finished, even if the open points are detected in Tests.
  • Assists new operators in the modernisation work with the support of the Mechanical Assembly Supervisor.
  • Based on the Planning, it ensures the fulfilment of activities on time.
  • Follows CAF procedures and Project documentation.
  • Completes Control Sheets in real time.
  • Fulfil Quality objectives.
  • Ensures tidiness, cleanliness and compliance with health and safety policies.
