Job Title: Mechanical Utilities Engineer
Location: Sligo, Ireland (On-Site)
Type: Contract
Duration: 12-Month Contract
Rate: €45 - €50 per hour

REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Biomedical, Electronics) or a relevant discipline.
- Experience in chilled water, boilers, potable water distribution, compressed air generation, LPHW, building management systems, environmental management systems, electricity, building safety systems, and building regulations.
- 5+ years of experience in facility and utility engineering, preferably in a cGMP environment.
- Proven ability to redesign elements of manufacturing, utility, or facility machinery to adapt to process conditions and improve efficiency, with a demonstrated track record in managing budgets.
- Experience with chilled water, electricity, potable water distribution, compressed air generation, and building management and safety systems.
- Ability to conduct investigations and equipment monitoring to improve manufacturing performance, such as reducing plant downtime and maximizing output and yield.
- Personal responsibility for achieving performance goals and meeting operational targets.
- Attention to detail to avoid damage to equipment and ensure uninterrupted utility operations.
- Able to manage multiple streams of work simultaneously and prioritize effectively.
- Responsibility for ensuring uninterrupted availability of utility equipment.
- Works under set targets and goals reviewed on a weekly or monthly basis.
- Receives general instructions from management and is responsible for ensuring utility equipment availability.
- Supervises external contractors and has decision-making responsibility within the Site Engineering Services Team.
- Maintains contacts with all levels of management, external contractors, service engineers, commissioning engineers, and safety inspectors.
Responsibilities:
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage the execution of projects within the group.
- Implement equipment and process improvement initiatives.
- Perform day-to-day preventative and demand maintenance activities to maintain manufacturing and utility equipment.
- Establish performance goals, schedules, and timetables with the Site Engineering Services Manager.
- Assist in managing and supporting manufacturing, utility, and facility project plans.
- Coordinate maintenance of manufacturing and facility equipment per maintenance schedules.
- Prepare capital expenditure requests for the facility, plant, and equipment.
- Develop monthly engineering metrics for operations, utilities, and facilities, driving operational improvements, including cost-saving initiatives.
- Ensure successful agency, external, and internal audits related to engineering compliance systems.
- Issue management reports on time as required.
- Manage relevant budgets within targets.
- Cross-train within the department to ensure preventive maintenance schedules are met.
- Ensure safety standards are met, and safe working practices are adhered to.
- Implement equipment and process upgrades in a continuous improvement environment.
- Support the Engineering Team to ensure manufacturing equipment complies with legal and operational standards.
- Liaise with Global Engineering as required.
- Effectively manage internal and external plant projects.
- Implement all relevant policies related to Quality, Engineering, and Safety.
- Supervise external contractors, including developing performance metrics for third-party service providers.
- Negotiate costs and drive quality and performance with external contractors.
- Prepare appropriate CAPA (Corrective and Preventative Action) plans and implement timelines.
EHS RESPONSIBILITIES
- Comply with EHS policies and procedures, demonstrating best practices in all work activities.
- Be conscious of personal safety and that of others, adhering to safety notices and barriers.
- Report any EHS incidents or near misses immediately to a supervisor and log events in the EHS system.
- Support a culture of EHS excellence by identifying and submitting opportunities for EHS improvement.
- Attend all required EHS training and medical surveillance programs.
- Wear PPE as required.
